RNGmaster - 110,747,977 - 1-ALL - Panzer Jager
That's fucking bullshit right there! I can barely make the 100 million mark! :(

RNGmaster, good job. I take it the special round is not too far off? How often do you use bombs?

It's dem Dragon Blaze skills.

I bomb a lot - check my inp! I have a bomb plan that would let me loop, but it requires a degree of consistency which is hard to maintain on school hours. Anyways I kind of burned myself out after the first two weeks of play, so... It's going to be a while before I play this again.

Just noticed I have never submitted any scores in this. Might as well populate the board more even though I never bothered to learn any proper scoring.

Erppo - 149,907,733 - 2-3 Omote - Tiger Schwert - MAME
Erppo - 430,273,159 - ALL - Tiger Schwert - X360 X-Mode

He's using a Japanese(?) MAME so maybe it's not really western. However, I'm really like the replay. It shows good routes without empty lock bullshit. It's like the Type B version of MMM's run. Good stuff!

x91 is my friend. I hear the Forum from him:D

I had spent about 1000 hours on this game, but most of time I could just play on MAME. Until 2011/10/18 I went to the "infamous game center in Shanghai", and 1CC'd the omote loop. The first pic is the scoreshot.(277,506,098 2-5 was made by x91 :D )

Hey Xno, I got a question. Why do you stall on the midboss in stage 4?

I believe it's to time the phase ending so that you don't have to dodge the hard attack in the second phase.

Western = westerner. Evidently, not the case here.

But what constitutes a Westerner? New Zealand, for instance, is farther to the east than most (all?) Asian countries.

The rule I use for the Hall of Records thread regarding Eastern/Western scores is that basically anything outside of Japan, China or Korea goes into `Western`. I realize that its a bit of a misnomer since there are more countries in the East than those three and some Western players are setting their scores while in Japan (like myself) for example, but its really just meant to be a way to gauge our humble community`s high scores compared to the Arcadia/Gamest records.

I wont be adding x91`s score as the top Western score over MonkeyMan`s since he`s in China, which I dont mean to be a slight against him. He`s obviously a great player, but he`s part of a community that operates at a higher level of skill. Its like college and pro football, I guess.

Although, if x91 is Chinese but raised in a different country I guess it would count. :? If others feel that his and other native Japanese, Chinese and Korean players should be added because theyre now part of the community, I would be ok with that (as long as no one tells Yusemi or Clover-TAC about these forums).

Not by geographical location, for one.

"From a cultural and sociological approach the Western world is defined as including all cultures that are directly derived from Western European cultures, i.e. Western Europe, the Americas (North and South America), Australia, New Zealand and Israel. Together these countries constitute Western society[2][3][4]"

The way I see it if they joined the forum then it should count. It's not like XnoZero got that ura score easy with 1000 hours of playtime.

I think the 2nd form of midboss is hard, you know, the second way of attack.

I try to control the time of break 1st form. So When enter 2rd form, midboss is using the second attack, and would not last too long time. And when midboss use it again, It remains little HP.

I do agree with Kaneda. If we're talking about the Western record then any Eastern players' score cannot be considered. And I'm native.

It's a pity... I wish we can have any professional associations, or official leagues about shmups. Some of us have to work, so those who want their skills improved will have to do it in spare time. College students may be easier on time but as far as I know, quite a bit don't have the chance to play with a nice cabinet. They have no choice but MAME. (Console you may say, er, what if they cannot afford to buy one?).

In fact, shmup players in China, I mean score-attackers, not casual players(no offense, really), most of them have retired, for family needs or whatever reality takes. Now only a few of newcomers, along with those old fighters who haven't give up, perhaps no more than 20, are challenging themselves in respective fields, making their way up to the top.

We have a National Leaderboard but it's just a board... But except those scorers... geez, Kami knows who would care...

Oh, a tiny correction. Zero I don't remember I did tell you about this forum before! Ah... supposed to keep a low profile.
The newer version of Chinese Leaderboard is here! Check it out :>

I feel this is pretty much the same everywhere too, even in Japan from what I'm hearing... it's hard to stay motivated when you're a semi-decent player, and I can only imagine it's even worse for top players :|

And I'd be minded to agree with Gus, all scores posted on these forums should count... there's not that many players in the first place, and somehow I doubt we'll ever get invaded by Japanese world record players :P

Just out of curiosity, did all the best Ketsui players credit feed to get a feel for the Ura loop, or any part of the game in general? I'm not trying to validate my recent decision to do so myself, but I'm strictly curious to know if that result that we see before us on YouTube is the product of a player hitting F7 every time the stage ends, until he understood exactly where to score big, etc.

Well that even includes sht_ycw79 and me, since I am from the Southeast.

I haven't seen it personally but I've heard a lot of the top Japanese players will credit feed if they're still learning a game just to get experience and see late-game patterns. Then there's guys like KET who play in MAME and practice with save-states.

Thanks man, I could start recording input, only got to 2nd loop twice now. (and the second one failed straight away)
So yeah, I was playing normally, and I did quite well to stage 4, then I got hit a few times. I thought "Oh damn... still no loop for me" and decided to just 1-all it.
You should have seen my face when stage 1 popped up instead of credits, and it was a full suprise
EDIT: WHOA shmupmame 3.0 messes up ketsui really bad when recording input!!
