Take my advice, dodonpachis don't give as much stress relief as girlfriends. Make use of both wisely.

Funny, I feel the exact same way. I'm constantly sneaking in a game or two of DDP just before work, just before going to meet the GF, just before I go to sleep. I wish I had a block of time dedicated to just DDP, but it never seems to happen. Maybe next weekend over labor day.

Sounds like what my life will be like shortly. I just finished moving in to my new apartment and had grad school orientation this week. I didn't realize it until yesterday but I've got to put away a 550 page book by wednesday and a 250 page book by monday, on top of preparing for the discussion groups I'm teaching on monday (despite it being the first day of school and the fact that they haven't been to a lecture yet). Then starting next week I have the lovely addition of getting statistics work slapped on top of the monstrous reading assignments, the undergrad class I have to follow and keep up on, and the discussion groups to teach... On the plus side, I've been splitting up chapters of reading with credits on DOJ...

I tend to have a split shift at work, ie 11am-3pm then 5pm-finish(often as late as 1:30am. during the split I drive home, which takes 30 mins, get changed, which leaves me with 40 mins before having to get ready to leave for work again. I get home, eat, play dodonpachi then go again  I always play it in the morning before work, and after work.

Those are almost like my shifts at work. I do:
- 11am-2pm, six days a week
- 5pm-(roughly 11.30pm, sometimes later), fives times a week
I get roughly one whole day off a week (at random, depending on how busy it is), as well as Sunday morning/afternoon, and usually I sleep until late afternoon. The only time I get to play is after work at night, and I'm usually up until 4am :?

This routine can't be good for my health.

I've just finished 3 years of college so I'm just enjoying my free time at the moment. I've a feeling that I'll have to get a real job soon, I'm saving up for a cab and will need some lovely shmup pcbs to go with it.

Well, I just finished week 3 at Albertson's Supermarket, bagging groceries. It's nice to have an income again, even if it is pretty small. I average about 30 hours a week-not too bad considering that "part-time" in this country usually means 25 hours/week if your're lucky.

I just snagged a Core Grafx and some games for it, and Skull Fang for my modded Saturn. :D

And as far as a girlfriend goes, I don't have that problem with time devotion. Although I wish I did. I'm 28 and I've been perusing a relationship since Ronald Regan's first term in office (and that's the honest truth), so who knows if I'll ever have a girlfriend, or a job where I can use my skills in research and writing- I suck at pyshical labor compared to mental labor, and always have.

Oh well, there are actually a few Monastaries in Colorado. :(

Grad school doesn't sound so bad to me right now-except that I have absolutely no money to pay for it, and don't want to burden my folks with that. But gaming is a great way to take study breaks, so nice one man! :D

I'd say find a few schools and spend the money on applying. If you had decent grades, a good writing sample and strong recomendations, you should be able to get a scholorship or an assistantship. Hell, my grades were lackluster (2.975 GPA) as were my GRE scores (550 and 560) and with my sample and recommendations managed to get a job as a teachers assistant. They waived my tuition for the semester and I get a stipend of almost 5 grand (split in payments every two weeks, of course). It definitely is possible and worth it, especially if you ever want to use those skills because chances of you getting paid to do any real research or getting published are pretty slim with just a bachelors.
