I guess this has to do with both YouTube and shmups but...don't know if it's entirely correct to post here.
Aah, fuck it.

Akai Katana Shin - 3,117,198,720 - Type B

Testing out my new capture card. The image is a little blurrier than it probably should be, gonna have to work on that.

Testing out my computer's performance for recording 720p using Radiant Silvergun on the 360.

Performance is ok but I'll need another display and an HDMI splitter, playing on the recorder screen was horrible.

Really awful, made it more like Radiant Failgun, but maybe worth watching anyways?

Uploaded a few more videos, with various encoding settings between AVIDemux and Sony Vegas:

Mushihime-sama Futari 1.5 Original - 358.485.392 - Palm (Abnormal)
Mushihime-sama Futari Black Label Maniac - 860.720.964 - Palm
Mushihime-sama Futari Black Label God Mode 1cc - 2.858.427.405 - Reco
Mushihime-sama Futari 1.5 Maniac - 694.993.138 - Reco (Normal)

I think my 1.5 Maniac video should look better than everything else I've uploaded, but to be honest I can barely tell the difference between them. I don't know how some of you guys upload videos that are so clear, do you just encode at a super high bitrate to make up for youtube's degradation, or do I just suck at this stuff? I'll admit, I am not good with computer.

Try a lower CRF, and I wouldn't bother using any higher search setting than UMH (exhaustive is way slower for little benefit).

If you're using a CLI version of x264, try something along the lines for "--crf 19 --preset slow --tune touhou". If you're upscaling a video (because your capture card won't do higher than 480p or something) then you could test using other resize filters.

Didn't understand any of that but i don't need to worry at this point in time since i don't own or have a supergun and games in my possession.

The videos don't look that bad to me. They're actually quite good/clear by YT standards, actually.

I uploaded an Espgaluda II clear with settings pretty close to this. 20 CRF, UMH search. Looks pretty nice, for the most part!

I don't think they look bad or anything, they're just a bit blockier and dull than I would like. I've seen a few youtube videos that looked pretty sharp, so I was just making sure my settings weren't off or anything (the source videos look great to me as well, so I just guess the quality loss when uploading to YT is a bit worse than I thought it would be).

The camera perspective shifting in that game looks retarded.

Camera randomly going almost completely behind you then back again quickly, wtf.

You get used to it. The camera only moves sporadically when nothing is happening so you can't die.

There is definitely one or two parts where the camera shifts and you still can possibly die.

Worth mentioning that during the crazy camera sequences, there's green lines on the sides showing your movement boundaries.

Truly amazing replay, that.

EX4 is IMO the hardest and most bullshit stage in the entire game - the other stages enemies are a bit better with firepower-to-health ratio. Definitely worth buying the bundle for the other versions as they're the main feature in the bundle.

Training DOJBL's 1-5

Planning to loop the game sometime in the future (can't really dedicate myself, exams in May that will decide lots of things).

Crazy little crossover of bullet hell and dodging skills at 04:22-04:24. Most of us would probably just panick and hit the bomb button at that point.

What do you guys use to capture your videos? As i usually use FRAPS, but even for a 3-4 min vid its like 3GB big!? Hate to think what a 10-20min vid size would be

Considering how short most shmups are that's not really a problem. Recording in RGB mode it's 4GB per 2:30 @ 640x480, so a 20 minute video would be 32GB for a 20 minute video.

If you want large, look no further than the AVI's written by MAME.

Thanks Mills for the kind words, I still have a long way to go before I can talk about being skilled at this game, even at the survival level. No major improvements are planned until May/June exams are all over. After them, well i'll play hell outta this baby until I loop it (and say try reaching 2-3). Gonna keep playing it and keep improving my skills. At one point, I will decide to go against true last boss in first loop. Yep looping and reaching far consistently will train me MAJORLY until that point.
