I've got a request for Saturday the 14th instead. I know that won't help Mikhail, but Saturday means I could shift the times a bit later. I'll entertain the following weekend as well (lets see when mdl actually leaves for Japan). [Updated first post]
As for the line up, I've been toying with the idea of a Hidden Gem Shmupmeet, meaning no Cave or Raizing games will be played. Of course this is just a thought, and I'll leave it up to you guys, but I have a ton of shmups we've never played only because all the cabs are usually occupied with the standard Cave/Raizing fair, which gets a bit repetitive.
I have already selected one secret game for a head-to-head competition we haven't played before ($1 entry with 1st and 2nd prizes splitting the pot). Open to other ideas.
Whichever weekend this happens, I think the hidden gem idea is superb! It was a pleasure to play through Hyper Duel last time at Gamecenter and I know you'll bring out some great uncommon games that will create a good conversation and generate some heard scoring competitions.
I have to help a close friend move on 14th/15th... not sure which day yet, so I'm tentative there. Next weekend looks free though. Really hope I can come this time! I'd love to see some rare stuff, too.
I have a weird feeling we'll see at least one NMK shmup. Eschatos would be nice, too—Khoa seems to be a big fan of the Qute games as of late, and I'd like to see what all of the fuss is about. :)
14 and 15 are no-go for me due to Sac-Anime (hi Skyline).
21st is fine, but 22nd will be tough as Aru-san, Age of Kings, and I are planning our little mini-meet on that day, although I would prefer going to a full-fledged meet over just bringing my consoles over to Aru's dorm

14th and 15th are no goes as I will be in San Diego and Saturday most likely I won't be able to make it till mid day if at all. 22nd is a mini meet up with gs68, although I suspect we can change plans.

Age of Kings wrote:Awww, these are always on bad days for me. :/ They're always either when I'm on SoCal or have some other plans. That being said, the only day I can conceivably make is 21st. I will be on a camping trip on MLK weekend.
(with the above posters, 22nd is maybe possible)

Would be interested in joining in if there's going to be a socal carpool.
I would probably prefer the later January date to make sure my Gradius II board from Yahoo
arrives on time. I'll then have the complete AC Gradius set except the first one.

Oh wow, if you're coming over, I'd like to change the theme to alamone's favorite games, just to see you play. :3

Seconded. I love playing new games that I hadn't heard of.
Towards the end of the month is better for me. There's a trade show coming up in SoCal around the 17th, and I'm not sure yet if I'm going down there or not that weekend.
The later dates (either) will work better for me. For reasons too long to get into here, I'm not actually moving until late February now, but I still have to deal with moving stuff out of my house during the other week.
Plus, that might give me time to pull the X68000 or something else right back out of storage again... :P
Ok then, sounds like Saturday Jan 21st is better for the majority of people. I'll update the OP with the new proposed date, and start a list based on people's responses.

Doesn't look like we have a solcal contingent this time around, but if there is any other way you can make it, we'd love to have you join! Been watching your Gradius IV runs on ustream.
I might be able to convince some friends to take a weekend trip up to norcal as they're Cal alumni.
They're not as much into shooters as I am but they'll play them casually.
Do you have a PCB list up somewhere Dave? I was thinking of bringing Gradius II-III-IV if you don't
have them already.

Very cool, hope you can make it then!
I can honestly say I don't own a single Konami shmup. So feel free to bring whichever you like, and hopefully I'll be convinced to buy some after seeing you play.

Dave let me know if you want me to bring any PCB's although I am pretty sure you also own most everything I have.
I managed to rope in two friends to make the drive up, so count me (plus two) in!
Once you have the details settled, PM me the info. I'll bring my Gradius boards.
My PCB list https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... n_US#gid=0
if anyone has any requests.
Sounds like it will be a great meet! Normally, I'd be up for driving but I've been busy just getting back from vacation and have wedding plans. Would love if you Aru-san and gs68 stream the meet, I'd love to watch it and maybe play some games on my cabs simultaneously! Heh. alamone, you and your friends are gonna have a great time. Dave_K. is such a gracious host and I really enjoy the company of all the Nor Cal peeps.
