Dethronement successful! :P Crazy that your score isn't even no-miss, I bet you could have pushed it over 430 million without deaths.

Ouch.

Congrats, man! That's a really great score. Do you remember what your score progression through the stages was like?

Huge congrats! Even if there might still be competition, holding every single category in such a popular game is incredibly awesome!

Yeah, and it happened on Larsa's last attack which makes even more annoying. Sapz is a good player but it seemed like he didn't score as well as he could have in stages 3-5 and I took advantage of that. I wouldn't be shocked if he came back with a 430m or 440m score.
Congrats, man! That's a really great score. Do you remember what your score progression through the stages was like?
Going off memory:

Stage 1: 18m
Stage 2: 70m
Stage 3: 135m
Stage 4: 215m
Stage 5 (pre Larsa):350m

Thanks, I'll try up my score soon. I have a few other goals + real life stuff to take care of first, but I should be able to get to practicing this again after a week or so. It looks like all my stages could be improved noticably - in particular, my stage 2 seems inconsistent, likely due to inefficient icicle milking. Any advice for those?

My stage 2 is actually not so great as well. I did a decent run in my leaderboard replay compared to what others here have done but it's still not as good as the guys ranked above me on the leaderboards. The icicle milking is pretty simple, though. If you come in with the counter in the green ust go off to side and wait for the jellyfish to gather then hold the shot and work your way to icicle. With laser you do the same thing except you just hold the laser for a few seconds then grab a few of the gems that appear and destroy the icicle.

Also one tip I noticed you didn't do in your replay is you pretty much have to end stage 2 with the last 3 digits of the overall counter 000 or close to it. Wait out the last phase of the stage 2 boss if need be. It's not the most fun thing in the world to do but you're looking at an extra 1000 on the counter if you pull off the stage 3 opening properly.

Ver 1.5 360 - Maniac - Palm
CSF - 366,015,635 - ALL (Lx0) - Abnormal

I've been ignoring Maniac since the game came out and decided to do a few runs today after trying (and failing) to break 100 mil on Ultra. Got about 100 mil between stages 4 and 5, was mainly concerned about survival once I beat my old score.

Speaking of - my previous high was 190 mil or so, and that credit ended early in stage 4. I didn't even have the achievement for completing Maniac (with continues) before today.

Abnormal Palm is a pain in the ass to play because his shot sucks so much. Also got a 305m score with Normal Palm, which was a lot more fun even though his laser is worthless.

Nice job on the #1 score. I'm probably not gonna go after that one as I'm too busy getting owned by Ultra.

How does Normal Palm play compared to Abnormal BTW? The in-game leaderboard seems to actually suggest he's a little better for scoring.

Thanks, but I'm sure you could beat it without too much effort.

Normal Palm has a strong shot, so he can handle most of the stages really well (and his laser seems to be good at milking the hives in stage 3, which A.Palm sucks at, as far as I can tell). His major problem is that his laser is significantly weaker than Normal Reco's, so some boss patterns and some sections of stage 5 are hard to get through without bombing. So if you can dodge all of the extra patterns that are thrown at you, I think his scoring potential would be a little higher than Abnormal's.

Set yesterday at Super Motaro Arcade Café in Stockholm. Stage 3 was shitty as usual... Does anyone of the swedish players know who´s board I´m playing on?

Just being curious if the board is theirs or if someone lent it to them (and could be snatched away before I reached my pcb goal! ).

Några fler planer på shmupträffar där? Jag missade tyvärr den senaste.

Futari Black Label PCB's are quite expensive... and aside from that; you'd have to go through me first if you wanna snatch it away before i've 1CC'd God. 8)
edit: Sorry, completely misinterpreted that. Skyller på sjukan. :)

Har varit helt däckad början på detta år men tillfrisknaden är ett faktum.
Hade tänkt att köra igång för året nästa onsdag. Skulle vara kul om du ville svänga förbi. :)

That's a challenging goal you have there with god mode. I've put maybe 5 credits total into maniac, ultra and god so I have alot of practice on those modes ahead of me.

Kul om det blir lite shmupträffar framöver! Jag försöker nog svänga förbi Motaro efter jobbet på onsdag nästa vecka så får vi se om vi träffas.

Arrange - Original
PlatinumHawke - 2,387,006,442 - ALL (Lx4)

Arrange - Maniac
PlatinumHawke - 2,124,544,997 - ALL (Lx4)

Arrange - Ultra
PlatinumHawke - 2,016,435,773 - Stage 5 Boss

Aiming for about 2.5bil by the end of the month.
Edit: Score upped by about a half bil. Random death in the middle of stage 5 is painful.

Ended stage 4 with 2 billion then proceeded to botch stage 5 pretty fucking horribly.

Black Labe - X360 - God - Reco
CSF - 2,024,412,777 - Stage 5

I think I said I wanted 2 bil on God a loooong time ago. This run had four misses in stage 4, and I made less than 300 mil on that stage. It was really, really bad.

I'm not at all happy with it on a whole, but the no miss on 1-3 was pretty cool.

Been working on God for a bit over week now, first score I feel like posting:

Black Label - X360 - God - Reco
Erppo - 2,758,562,827 - Stage 5

Hey let's enter stage 5 with 3 extra lives and fuck it up completely! Should easily get 3b if I stop screwing things up so much.

Made it all the way to Larsa's last phase. I'm a little disappointed I blew it after coming into the fight with 3 lives but hopefully somebody else will reach the TLB. I'm looking at you, NTSC-J

Anyway gonna take a break from gaming for a bit. When I come back it will probably be with Espgaluda II or a better God mode score. Good luck to Sapz and anyone else with plans of beating my scores. I know you can you do it.

One last thing the score is on the leaderboard but it seems like there was some problem with uploading the replay. Gonna see if I can get it on Youtube instead.

It's on the list, but until I get a better 360 setup or more accurate emulation it will have to wait. I'm not sure I could even reach her with my skills, much less beat her.

I bet after a little time off you'll come back and clear it no problem.

That's an incredible score. Way to go out with a bang!

Thanks for the encouragement too, I think I'll start working on Original after this month's exams are over. I studied ABI's replay a little and I think I've figured out how to make some significant improvements to my run - the target is looking like 450m.

Updated.

I'm thinking of breaking the Black Label modes into separate boards for Reco/Palm like the other versions. I inherited them in their combined state which historically was really only done because there were so few people playing Black Label before the X360 release. At this point I don't really think it makes much sense to keep them combined, and I think it would be cool to encourage more Palm play. What do you guys think? Are there any other modifications/additions you guys would like to see on this board?

I for one am alright with having them combined, but since these boards are reasonably well-competed, I could see that being worthwhile.

Also, congratulations, Gus! Please keep being ridiculous. :P

Thanks, people. I really worked hard on that one.

Anyway I'd be for splitting the BL boards seeing how Palm and Reco both feel pretty different and even novice already has its own individual boards. If you do go through with it here's my best Palm God mode score

Black Label - X360 - God - Palm
GUS - 4,025,671,922 - ALL (Lx1)
