EDF is the only game I've ever enjoyed gaining achievements in.

I seriously believe that WoW should come with a Surgeon General's Warning.

I just read some funny stuff though

This kid buys Warhawk Platinum for a negotiated price of 450$ thinking the HAKOOOM guy is gonna play on his account for hundreds of hours to get platinum. 2 days later, HAKOOOM tells him hes done and got the platinum. The buyer tried to keep it a secret like he earned it himself til people checked his trophy card. The card says his warhawk Platinum was achieved in 41 years/few days etc which is a known timestamp for save file trophy hackers lol. He's been getting ridiculed by his trophy buddies and now wants a refund for ruining his account hahaha.

Games are supposed to fun and these challenges just make you pull your hair out. Its like saying "get to work in record breaking time" and then finding you hit a red light, or hit a pedestrian, or a learner driver constantly gets in front of you. When gaming makes me make such comparisons for me I'll give it up in a heartbeat.

Can someone tell me why its important to have platinum's anyway? I mean, its just a graphic on your PSN ID.. do you get a million dollars reward or something?
I think trophies and achievements are better than the old standard, which was unlockables. Over the years, my tolerance for doing things that weren't fun in order to earn the privilege of playing all the content on the game I bought has dwindled down to almost nothing. With T&A, there's still acknowledgement for performing unusual tasks, but it's not something you have to do to get the complete game.

Some take it too far, as Ruldra's link shows, but those people probably have a bona fide mental disorder that would express itself in some way even there weren't imaginary trophies being given out for finding imaginary rocks.

I think it's the main reason why men buy Dead or Alive games. ;)

You can get 1000/1000 points in like 5 seconds. It's the ultimate mark of shame.
We have someone from former THQ QA, and this game came up once. Apparently, when they were getting ready for certification, they realized all the achievements hooks were breaking the game. They were out of time and asked QA what wasn't breaking the game, and they said it was the combo one. Well, I guess their solution was to just split that one to five ways.
