On vacation in Spain in the mid-1980s I saw an arcade video game that I'd like to identify. This one has been bugging me for years, but unfortunately I still haven't been able to find out the name of the game.
Maybe you can help? Here's what I remember:
Unfortunately I don't recall which year it was, but I'm certain it was between 1984 and 1989. In the same place, there also was a Ms Pac Man cab. I didn't actually play the game in question then, but watched the attract mode for a short time. As far as I remember, the colors looked like 8-bit. In the demo, you could see several runners, presumably from different nations, that were competing against each other on a race track. In the background (at the center of the race track) there were rock walls (orange color) like you see them in the Arizona desert (like this: http://sedonaeye.com/wp-content/uploads ... Desert.jpg ) This could be a hint that it was related to the 1984 Summer Olympics in LA.
The graphics were not 2D sidescrolling like Konami's Track & Field from 1983. Instead, the camera angle kept changing, and the camera may even have followed the racers. I remember being quite impressed by this at the time. I'm pretty sure vector graphics weren't involved and everything was done in 2D (raster graphics).
I don't exactly remember what type of game it was but most likely it was a button masher. I also don't remember if there were any other sports events besides running in the game (since I didn't actually play myself and only watched it for a few minutes).
Does any of this ring a bell?

Thanks, but no. Konami '88 is way too modern (16bit-ish), and has a comic-like style (unlike the one I mean, which was definitely older and had a lower resolution and fewer colors). Furthermore, in the game I'm looking for the runners were going in circles, and at the center there were those huge orange rock formations. And I don't think there were any sporting events besides racing, and possibly hurdles.
This Hyper Olympic (Track & Field) flyer reminds me a bit of how the actual game looked (rock at the center, runners going around it): http://flyers.arcade-museum.com/?page=f ... 47&image=1

Did a small search and I came up with these names:

Gold Medalist
H.B's Hunch Back Olympics

Taito has one called Recordbreaker, but that may be too new (it's from 1988). Gold Medalist was released that same year and I don't think it'd be that game.
Kinect? KIN NOT.
