I'd also like to play myself a game of pool on the wii. Never been a fan of pinball games...

Brian, The Side Pocket you mention is a NES emulation on the Virtual Console ?

No. I have the actual cart for NES. I have the cart for Minnesota Fats for the Genesis too (but not the Genesis Side Pocket). I also have the arcade version of Side Pocket in the Data East collection for Wii. One warning about the collection. I love it, but the Magical Drop 3 in it has some incorrect sound and is the US version, which has odd voices (they are actually in Spanish for some reason) and, if I remember correctly, missing cutscenes.

Excite Truck is fantastic and Kororinpa is cute and fun.
IGMO - Poorly emulated, never beaten.

Oh, no, that sucks about the Magical Drop 3 edit. I used to play this game in a Neo Geo multi-game machine back in the early 2000s at the arcade inside the local Super K-Mart (it was a 24-hour K-Mart before it shut down) 8)

I don't know why I bought Magical Drop 3 for Virtual Console, but I'm glad I did. I had never played any game in the series before getting it, so it was a gamble that paid off. Same with Baseball Stars 2.

So, about Pool Games on Wii, I came across three titles :

-Pool Hall Pro
-Pool Party
-King Of Pool

Any of you tried some of those and might suggest me which one to select ?

I'd personally just go with Naxat Soft's Break In on the Virtual Console.

Well, I tried those pool games I cited. I dont really know what to think about it : pace is slow, control is good, trick shots are fun. Maybe I should try older games to see how they compare.

Anyway, keep entries coming please.

YESSSSSSS. I still need to get my own copy, but I've played it to death at a friend's place. That was a welcome surprise, especially after that Excitebike 64 game. My only beef with it is that the graphics tear, but it otherwise runs great, is well-balanced, not too gimmicky, and lots of room to improve your score.

It's a shame about ExciteBots.

I've contemplated getting Excite Truck every now and then, but then the thought of tilt-based controls turns me off. I wish I could try the game out before buying so I could decide whether they'd be a dealbreaker for me.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

As far as I know, controls are quite good, even tilt-based. If you could decently play Mario Kart with the wheel, you'll have no problems with this one.

Doesn't Super Monkey Ball (or its sequel) for 'Cube have some pool minigame?
I've got a hunch Battalion Wars 2 might by my cup of tea. The presentation reminds me of Assault, Hostile Waters...

Drunk-bumping the thread only to say I just ordered Excite Truck and I'm EXCITED indeed, the way I haven't been since the day I bought Ico and SotC. Looks incredibly rad. Better than Mario Kart Wii in fact. Will the MK wheel be of any use?

Y'know, I've been playing Rhythm Heaven Fever lately, and while I have no particular affinity for rhythm games (didn't like the DS RH much at all) I'm still having some pretty good fun with this one: it's not a huge amount of content, but most of what's there is enjoyable, and it's only 30 bucks. So I figured I'd check in this thread to see if anyone mentioned it: I don't think anyone has, so, well, consider it mentioned.

If you want to try it, it might be running in the Wii kiosk at the local Gamestop - just hope that the employees have been addicted enough to it to have unlocked some of the good stuff.

Off the top of my head:

- Kirby's Epic Yarn
- Another Code R (I'll miss you CiNG)
- No More Heroes/No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle
- House of the Dead: Overkill
- Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes
- Guilty Gear XX ^ Core Plus
- Sin and Punishment: Star Successor

I had no idea that there was a Dragon's Lair trilogy on the Wii. I need to go pick that up.

Just played Mario Kart Wii with a DualShock 2 (via adapter) for a while an guess what, it's fun. Nothing wrong with the Wiimote controls (and, I assume, all sorts of Nintendo analogue sticks), but it just kinda clicks with me and a DS2. In fact, I like the game a bit better now. (Although, admittedly, shaking the controller to perform a trick feels viscerally better than just pressing up on a D-pad).

Yeah, I got Excite Truck at launch along with Zelda: Twilight Princess.

Probably had more fun with Excite Truck to be honest... >_>

If you've not already played it, the GBA original - Rhythm Tengoku - is amazing and beats the rather disappointing DS sequel hands down.

I played all Rhythm Heaven games on nintendo system and definitely agree that the GBA one is the best. However for some reason I prefer myself a game of Wario Ware Smooth Moves on the Wii !

Boy, is this game wierd ?!?
