I didn't call you a shit poster, I said some of your posts are shit, and sometimes people have called you on it. I don't think any casual observer could disagree.DrTrouserPlank wrote:Calling me a "shit poster" and further refuting anything I say as "shit" says it all.
BTW, what exactly am I refuting? You haven't said anything substantial in your last 4 posts, and five posts back you did nothing but re-assert your stubbornness.
You refuse everybody's advice, and your responses only touch upon semi-unrelated tangents. What is your goal?

People are still replying seriously to DTP?

Yes it's an obvious and very expensive troll. Just examine the rationale and the cost incurred to me in order to do that... if I even wanted to which I can see no point or benefit in btw.Vamos wrote:I know right its an obvious troll and people here are so fucking STUPID they keep falling into it .Gus wrote:People are still replying seriously to DTP?

I for one like how it's straightforward - I'm not left feeling lost as to what mode could be considered the 'experts' one to pick or what mode is just right for me. Just dodge the bullets and use the bombs to YO DAWG up some points.

Getting back to DFK black label. I tried it using power and it's not as bad as I had experienced with strong. But it was still very hard, or at the very least as hard as 1.5. It's hard to make the comparison because of 1.5's autobomb. I was still out of stock on level 2 however. Ketsui is easier... definitely.

You are wasting your money on these games. You buy them, get frustrated, and don't listen to our offers of assistance. People have gone out of the way to show you that, for example, Larsa isn't impossible and every single attack has a method. And yet you still roll out the same arguments dozens of times after they've been disproven.

Re: The BIG thread of Shmup grievances.
I actually do appreciate people's advice as hard as that may be for you to imagine, and on the contrary I don't believe Larsa or any of these games are impossible. I have covered this before. My usage of the word "impossible" is very loose and somewhat removed from it's true meaning. What I do believe is that certain parts of certain games are very hard to consistently clear. Indeed you could spend a lifetime learning every intricacy of the patterns and still only clear it in the minority of attempts. Is that OK?... for me it's not. Things should be able to be mastered to the point of almost inevitability.RNGmaster wrote:You are wasting your money on these games. You really don't realize why that is? It's because you seem to completely ignore all that advice and return again with the same issues after a while.DrTrouserPlank wrote:I actually do appreciate people's advice as hard as that may be for you to imagine...
In fact you do that later in that very same post. People have told that the games are indeed consistently clearable and you either ignore this all completely or outright claim they are lying. And you still don't think that counts as trolling?

People tell me a lot of things but that doesn't mean I accept them as fact without questioning them. Are you saying I should accept everything that everyone on this forum tells me as the truth and not give it a second thought?Erppo wrote:You really don't realize why that is? Following on from that, I don't ignore people's advice, but a lot of the "advice" I have been given is along the lines of "lern2play" and "OMG you are such a troll" after I have failed to make progress at the (apparently) acceptable rate. Some people have been helpful. They are generally the people who haven't been abusive.

Re: The BIG thread of Shmup grievances.
DTP, how about you record some gameplay videos where you, say, fight Larsa in the practice mode of 1.5 Original?

Matskat wrote:This neighborhood USED to be nice...until that family of emulators moved in across the street....
Re: The BIG thread of Shmup grievances.
Not necessarily but you should accept that people generally dislike it when you imply that they are lying, despite some even taking the trouble to provide some evidence for their claims. You should also accept that making generalizations of ALL players based on nothing but your own experiences is somewhat dumb.DrTrouserPlank wrote:Are you saying I should accept everything that everyone on this forum tells me as the truth and not give it a second thought?

I'd quite like to if it would silence the people who seem intent on bad-mouthing me non-stop, but alas I don't have recording equipment. You're more than welcome to add me as AgentKillmore on Xbox and check out my replays on score attack for the various games that I've got.moozooh wrote:DTP, how about you record some gameplay videos where you, say, fight Larsa in the practice mode of 1.5 Original?
I have never said or implied that people are lying. I said that people who are somewhat skilled in a field tend to overestimate their ability/rate of success statistically.Erppo wrote:Not necessarily but you should accept that people generally dislike it when you imply that they are lying, despite some even taking the trouble to provide some evidence for their claims. Maybe the majority of the people who post on this forum don't find these games as difficult as me, but this is surely a place to express views about them, and that cannot be completely confined to those who find them trivial from the offset with the exclusion of anyone who dares to question or debate how difficult they actually are?

Re: The BIG thread of Shmup grievances.
Step 1: get a digital photo camera. Everybody has one nowadays. Borrow one if you're the weird one guy who doesn't. iPhone 4/4S or a comparable smartphone will suffice, too.DrTrouserPlank wrote:alas I don't have recording equipment
Step 2: mount it on a tripod, or at least something that will make it stand perfectly still, in front of the display.
Step 3: record, copy to your computer, rotate in VirtualDub if needed, and upload to YouTube.
Results will be like these: with tripod, without tripod. Not very good, but still watchable, and in 30 fps.
I haven't checked yet, but I'm sure most of these games don't offer you to upload a replay unless you're high up on the board.DrTrouserPlank wrote:You're more than welcome to add me as AgentKillmore on Xbox and check out my replays on score attack for the various games that I've got.

Re: The BIG thread of Shmup grievances.
Thanks but I'm certainly not going to be buying recording equipment for the sake of the people on this board; those who generally insult and ridicule whatever I say. Maybe I'm living in some sort of sub-dimension (of course I am, I'm playing shmups in 2011) but I don't have a camcorder, or at the moment a phone capable of recording video.moozooh wrote:Step 1: get a digital photo camera. OK, that's a fair point. I think my DDP 1.5 replay is available.... other than that.. you're right.

NTSC-J Xbox 360 = $250-$300 not including shipping. Imported STGs = $60-$80 apiece not including shipping. And you want me to believe you do not have a phone capable of recording video?DrTrouserPlank wrote: Thanks but I'm certainly not going to be buying recording equipment for the sake of the people on this board; those who generally insult and ridicule whatever I say. Even the fliphone I rented while in Japan recorded video in HD. Get with it man.

In other words, you don't imply people are lying but you imply they aren't speaking the truth.DrTrouserPlank wrote:I have never said or implied that people are lying. I said that people who are somewhat skilled in a field tend to overestimate their ability/rate of success statistically.
Also while there are certainly better players here, I'm sure there are loads of players worse than you here too. You are able to get to the last stage in 1.5 Original and that already tells you have learned something. From the impression I've gotten I'd say you might actually be in the better half of players here already. Most of the worse players just don't make that big of a number about it and go blaming the games for their own lack of experience.
Re: The BIG thread of Shmup grievances.
Uhh, you don't have a photo camera? Really? Why don't you get one anyway? Here, 73$ and you have 720p video capabilities as a free bonus.DrTrouserPlank wrote:Thanks but I'm certainly not going to be buying recording equipment for the sake of the people on this board; those who generally insult and ridicule whatever I say.
Or, as I said, borrow it.
It's rather perplexing to have you address one part of the argument that suits you and completely ignore the other, which is often the alternative of some sorts.

When I first saw the troll in question, I was confused. This confusion quickly turned to anger.
But at this point, all I feel is awe.
Its like watching a true virtuoso at the height of his powers, the way he deftly maneuvers past helpful advice and focuses on the barbs to make it seem like he is the one being trolled (if only he could dodge bullet patterns this well!). Look at the way he picks his shots, not spamming too many threads, but coming in and out with a good day or two of trolling before he`s gone again. And he does it all without so much as a mention by the impotent mods of this forum.
Look at his first post, from nearly three years ago:
