PC Engine / TurboGrafx compatibility

Post by E. Randy Dupre »

Hey guys. Hoping somebody could clear this up for me.

Everywhere I check, I'm told that US TurboGrafx games won't run on a JPN PC Engine. Thing is, US Lords of Thunder works just fine on my JPN machine.

Is it just that this one game is an aberration, or do all the US CD-based games work on JPN consoles? And are there any exceptions to the rule as far as HuCard games go?

HuCards = won't work
CD's & SCDs = will work
ACDs = won't work

HuCards and TurboChips are not interchangeable. The card slots have different pin-outs between the US and Japanese versions of the hardware.

However, there is absolutely no region lock-out (or copy protection for that matter) for the CD games.
