New cho-rensha 68k version out!
New cho-rensha 68k version out!
Look here for changes and download.
To be honest I could not understand the auto translation at all (difficulty setting???, some bugs well, something about URL and e-mail... etc.).
Would be nice if someone could help out here.
Too bad I have to go to school now, so I have to test it later.

As far as I can see it's nothing new.Hard only means that the game starts at loop 3.
I gues I will nevertheless play the hard mode a bit (could only bomb my way to the level four boss which is a shame, the feeling is quiete different in loop 1/2).
[EDIT]: Got to lvl 5 without losing a live, there I messed up completely, it's not that HARD you only have to learn the levels again (mmh, could be wrong but think that I 1cc'ed loop 3/4 once).

Lowest CPU benchmark settings for modern PC shmup demos...
Cho Ren Sha runs decently on a Pentium 233 with 128MB of RAM and a accelerated graphics card...these same lowest computer speed settings can run Gundeadligne PC shmup demo at 60 frames per second with sound turned "off" and no slowdown whatsoever.Bal-Sagoth wrote:Ach, I wish I had a decent PC so I could play all these lovely homebrew games. It's so old that a simple game like Cho Ren Sha runs at about 1/4 of the intended speed!
Try to play modern day arcade shmups via Mame32 emulation results in 15 frames per second gameplay (with the above listed CPU specs)...at the very least, you can play them in super slow-motion and defeat the shmup baddies with ease. At least with the early 1980's Mame arcade Roms, slowdown isn't a problem when running Mame32 emulation -- end result: classic arcade games run at crisp & smooth 60 frames per second.
Could Cho Ren Sha be ported as a true arcade Jamma PCB? It has that classic look & feel to it that really screams to be ported to arcade PCB pronto!
PC Engine Fan X! ^_~
I have serious sound problems with the last two builds of ChoRenSha on my main PC and my HTPC. Both systems are running similar chipsets (Intel 865 and 875), where my previous machine (an AMD processor running on a VIA chipset) and my laptop (pre-865/875 chipsets-era Pentium 4 chipset) among others run it flawlessly.
I have had to regress back to the 08-22-01 build. With this recent update, the author has removed this older version from his website, so I have mirrored it for you at the link above. I sent him email about the problem, but I don't expect him to understand me.
Also, ChoRenSha keeps a replay of your highest scoring run in the ETC_DAT folder. You can view it by waiting for the main menu to time out. Here is a good replay. Back up your existing replay file if you care to keep it.

I'm sorry cigthecat. Because of the prospect of playing PoFV online I try to train it as hard as I can (not very successful).
And I know that no matter how high my score in hard will be, you will beat it quickly and I would have to beat yours again and as mentioned I could not compete with you at the moment
