So this is my second RetroBit DC VGA box. The first refused to display any video whatsoever. The second worked fine until yesterday, upon which it started displaying yellow-tinted video. Sometimes it flickers back to normal, but soon turns yellow again. I'm playing on an HDTV and all my connections are secure.
I assume this is a known problem, is there any way to easily fix it? I know there's better boxes out there, but they're more expensive, and most don't have composite outputs for Bangai-O/Psychic Force/etc. I guess it's going to be more costly buying another one of these, though.
Secondary question: how significant is the jump in quality from composite to S-Video on a Saturn?
Another yellow image problem: cheapo DC VGA box
Re: Another yellow image problem: cheapo DC VGA box
From personal experience I would check the individual connections and maybe loosen them up a bit.
I had a yellow tint problem on SCART because I pushed a connection in too far (trying to be too thorough in securing the connection).
Since you did get a good image sometimes it means that one of the plugs has a loose or bent connection somewhere. Go from connection to connection and jiggle around until you find the culprit, then focus on it. If you can't get it stable you might have to open and reconnect or solder depending on what is going on. Try changing cables too just in case.

Re: Another yellow image problem: cheapo DC VGA box
Does your dc display any ood behaviour normally? ... The modular power supply in dcs in fairly infamous for coming slightly loose. Although most often associated with crashes/hangs I have noticed graphical anomalies as well in instances of this [tinting/warp/tear]; all fixed by applying a bit of pressure to the pins to make a firmer connection.

To be fair it may well depend on screen quality first. But if your screen is at least decently calibrated then it is usually significant - except for those seeking a specific type of nostalgia, composite can usually be looked at in scornEstebang wrote:Secondary question: how significant is the jump in quality from composite to S-Video on a Saturn?

Re: Another yellow image problem: cheapo DC VGA box
There's definitely no problem with the DC itself; composite output is always stable and I've never had a game crash.
I've jiggled around the connections and it didn't seem to do anything. I'm almost certain it's an internal problem with the box--it just goes between yellow and normal when it wants to. Guess I'll either have to take the thing apart and try to do something more in-depth, or get an alternative.
