Obviously some undercover marketer has never heard of Twinkle Star Sprites.

The funny thing is that both screens will show exactly the same thing, as Battle Squadron was 2 players on its original version without such thing.

The split screen is just to make it "Playable" on an iPad with 2 people at the same time.

Hmm, splitscreen with both players facing each other? All you need now is a mini table-thing for the iPad to sit on, and you've got a cocktail arcade cabinet. :D

Cocktail table arcade cabs were a dime a dozen back in the early 1980s. My local Chuckie E. Cheese's joint had a dedicated eating area that had many cool cocktail table arcade cabs (even spotted a rare Sega Zaxxon cocktail cab)...perfect for playing some games while chowing down on some pizza or sipping on some soda. The booths were spacious enough for several people to crowd around a single cocktail cab if it needed be. Eventually, the cocktail cabs were removed and more normal eating/seating tables were installed to accomodate more paying patrons. Go figure.

Plus, it was commonplace to see one or two cocktail table cabs at the local Pizza Hut as well back in the early '80s. I'd usually see a Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Galaxian or Galaga cocktail cabs from time to time (it all depended on what the local arcade distributor decided to place inside such "street locations" as they were called within the arcade distro business). Out of boredom, sometimes unplugging them and plugging them back on just to see the "boot up" sequence run through their paces was fun.

Interesting premise with this iPad shmup.

Here in CC,TX we had a Pizza Hut location on Leopard St. (somewhat "skeevy" part of town even then) that had a Warlords Cocktail; I obtained one of these in 1994! Yes, I still have it.

Hi,
Great story and fun to read the comparison between those retro table arcades and placing an iPad into one :)
