Hi everybody,

since I made a little shmup for this year's Java4K (a competition where you have to code a game that fit's into 4KB), I thought that I could also post it here. OK, it's not quite a true shoot'em up because well, you can't shoot. You can only bomb. And your bomb needs 23 seconds to reload.

You can score by destroying as many enemies as possible at once, grazing bullets and collecting the items that enemies drop when destroyed as well as the big items that appear from time to time (those ones have a multiplier, so don't miss them to get more points). The difficulty isn't that hard (if you just play for surviving it's even far too easy) but I didn't want to enter the contest with a game that's only playable for skilled shmup experts^^ And it has only one generated, infinite level, but well, 4K limit^^

By the way: If anyone else is interested in that competition, I can only recommend it, it's quite fun :D

Controls:
Arrows: Move
X: Bomb
Z: Speed up
Left Shift: Slow down

Not bad for a 4 KB file.

I don't suppose you plan on expanding this into a true shmup? I could totally see something like this being made in the style of Recca with stages and bomb types and such.

Right now I'm still working on another full shmup, so at least until that one's finished I won't expand this one into a true game. But afterwards I'll probably consider it, because I like the idea too.
