Third Strike's an amazing fighter, although I tend to play CvS2 / MvC2 / X-Men vs SF a bit more. Have the DC version of TS, and love it. Only thing that ever bothered me about TS was the slow pace of the game, and the opening rap sequence.
Other than that: phenomenal. *edit: forgot to mention that I thought the XBOX version SUCKED in comparison to the DC version.*

Yeah, that is exactly why pads are allowed at Evo's and other fighter tournaments.LAshujin wrote:Then your a fighter scrub - pad playing monkey. Soo Mighty lost to a DC pad player? That's surprising.

I kind of switch it up between sticks and pads. When I use a pad, I go for one of my Saturn pads. This style here: http://dasfool.aroo.tv/images/SaturnPad.jpg Love those.

That, sir, is the Sega Saturn MK-80116 2nd US edition pad. Very close in design to the Japanese Sega Saturn pad. There are no finer pads in existance both in terms of performance and durability (well, the NES non-dogbone controllers are at least as durable... but don't have the 6 button action nor the perfectly raised D-PAD for precise control).superhitachi4 wrote:I kind of switch it up between sticks and pads. Agreed 100%. The MK-80116's great. Just like the Japanese version, but a bit cheaper for most of us.llabnip wrote:That, sir, is the Sega Saturn MK-80116 2nd US edition pad. and if you play on anything other than stick...it's just silly....pads will never be as good as sticks.. and in respnce to soo mighty losing at evo to a pad player...that is soooooo not common. and when at evo you can't set macros on pads so the pad player is actually at a disadvantage. pads hurt the fighting game scene...hahah.
SFA3SD > SFIII3S
Sorry man, but SFIII3S has horrible balance. Balance is definitely not one of the game's strong points. Anyone who has played in serious tournaments, or in Japan, knows that it has shit balance. Not to say the game isn't still fun sometimes, but the other SF titles are better (like SFA3SD). SFA3SD (DC) is not only the best Street Fighter ever, but the best fighting game ever. The game is perfect.
As for SFA3SD (DC), it has very good balance, and Capcom fixed glitches from the original (Karin's kill-throw, Ryu's V-ISM combo). Sakura, Sodom, and Sagat aren't as bad as they were in SFA3 (notably in V-ISM). I can't get them to work, and I haven't seen anybody pull off their semi-infinite V-ISM juggle combos from the original SFA3; some claim that those combos are still in SFA3SD (DC), but I'll believe it when I see someone pull them off and actually record them. All I've heard is talk; no proof. Also, SFA3SD (DC) is said to be a slightly different game than SFA3U (Naomi); any thoughts on this?
Anyway, it's great to see some SF fans, even if we all share different views...

Not better balanced than TS. It was Sean and Ibuki. They fucking owned the game. Now Sean is the worst.

yeah, second impact was retarded.. wathe the skillsmith combo vids. they are insane...all the characters had some silly combos and the move buffering had a crazy huge window to combo crap in, so it was like hit confirm on EVERYTHING... but yeah, ibuki and sean were retarded...throw into hyper tornado...WTF?! yeah i didn't like giant attack as much as i like fight for the future, but fight for the future is not balanced well.. the only thing i can say that is good is that the teirs are only very very apparent at high level play. i have seen some weird tourny results like twelves and hugos in top 4 places.. i personally play hugo and twelve and place alright. but of course hugo sucks against a lot of top tier charcters, namely ken, and i have a hard time against urien, but urien owns hugo for free... and twelve well he just sucks but is mad fun to play. all and all, 3rd strike is f-ing great, but it has its bad moments..
seriously...i say this with total confidence..the EX series was fun as hell and great in tournys..i am serious all you guys should pick up ex 3 and just play that sob. it is freaking great.

Straight. I'm not ashamed to say that I also think that SFEX3 is great; me and my friends have had some good times with that game, and we did back in the day with SFEXPA, too. Well, except that time I got really, really mad after a Shin Garuda matchGIANT SQUID wrote:seriously...i say this with total confidence..the EX series was fun as hell and great in tournys..i am serious all you guys should pick up ex 3 and just play that sob. it is freaking great.

We should talk about SFEX series more...

While it's a fact that SFA3 was written by God herself and handed down to the fine folks at Capcom...the Dreamcast version? I've also read V-ism is MORE broken in upper but I couldn't tell you myself, I use A-ism and play vs. CPU/unskilled people most of the time.
And those glitches were fixed in later PCB versions and the Saturn version too.

Third Strike is racist.
Hear me out, hear me out! Look at the bottom tier. SEAN and Q. This game is even racist towards robots!
And have you noticed that, despite the differing races throughout, almost EVERYONE in the game speaks Japanese? RACIST.
Alright, that's not even funny anymore. Meh, I never liked Third Strike that much, but it has its fans.

The radio said, "No, John. You are the demons."
And then, John was a zombie.

"While it's a fact that SFA3 was written by God herself and handed down to the fine folks at Capcom...the Dreamcast version? Maybe there's more than one version, but the one I have has weird feeling control and scaled up graphics..."
Yes, that's why the graphics are so great! And the control feels just as good as SFA3; not to say it hasn't changed a bit...
"I've also read V-ism is MORE broken in upper but I couldn't tell you myself, I use A-ism and play vs. CPU/unskilled people most of the time."
Exactly; it's what you've read/heard; nobody can ever give examples with this...everyone just wants to find reasons to shit on it because it's not based off the CPSII version of the game.
"And those glitches were fixed in later PCB versions and the Saturn version too."
Sure, that may be so, but those aren't the versions any arcades are actually using. Nobody wants to play the clean version of any Capcom fighter (except me); they won't make money with the clean versions. Ever notice that tourneys are always for the first, glitched versions of Capcom fighters? It's bullshit, and there are always tons of excuses for it...

usage wouldn't hurt.
I'm really trying to learn Necro. Failing horribly, though. Ibuki and Necro are pretty fun, though it's hard not to resort to the randomness which is Ken.
If you had any idea how many people used Ken, you'd be crying. If it were restricted to say.. daigo, then it'd actually be easier to tolerate.

Ken is terribly annoying in SF3, especially to any character that is medium or even slow. Again an issue of balance with the game since a good Ken player can take out a good *almost anyone else* player. That said, I was in awe when the the SF3 tourney in Omaha (don't ask me why they have a big tourney in Nebraska), had Hugo as the winner. I'm sure he had to stomp a dozen Ken players in the ground to get there.
I could have actually done without both Ken and Chun Li in the SF3 series. Both feel annoying if not completely contrived. Just more to bring the fans back.

Re: SFA3SD > SFIII3S
Hmm, DC version does have better than arcade perfect sound it seems, as there's *no* downsampling on the voice, even the CPSII version seems to have some. Someday I'll find a way to sew the Dreamcast, Saturn, and CPSII versions together and balance it too to make the perfect fighter.BAD wrote:"While it's a fact that SFA3 was written by God herself and handed down to the fine folks at Capcom...the Dreamcast version? Graphics are still scaled up (i.e. took lowres sprites and put them in high res - they're factually worse) and I can't dragon punch consistently, control feels very odd. I say the Saturn, CPSII, and Playstation versions are all better.

I bow down to anyone who bows down to perceived perfection.ThirdStrike wrote:Every night I bow down to my GOD which happens to be a Street Fighter 3 third Strike Cabinet. Perfection can be measured in the ammount of detail and balance put into this title. This game may be the perfect 2d arcade fighting game. I do not even think with Street Fighter 4 can surpass the magnificence that is Street Fighter 3 THIRD Strike. This is to fighters as Ikaruga/Radiant Silvergun is to shooters. Yes its that good my friends and I have spent more time perfecting technique in this game then any other. Screw a port buy the CAB!!!!!!! The Soundtrack is Hardcore as well.
I will bury myself with my cabinet when I die.
May we speak the beauty of thee, O Earth, that is in thy villages and forests and assemblies and war and battles.
