How Satisfying

EA Games should release a "NFS Classic Collection" disc for Xbox featuring the original Hot Pursuit 2, Underground and Underground 2 eh?

How's the gameplay on the NFS Shift 2 Unreleased game? I recall that there's the NFS S2U Limited Edition version up for sale at my local Target store for a mere $29.99 USD right now. (Plus it's up as an Games On Demand d/l for the same listed price on the USA XBox Live site.)

And what would you recommend to use as a solid force-feedback steering wheel on the 360 for serious racing sessions?

The newly released Microsoft Wireless Speed Wheel is fine for some light racing needs (but I need a more robust dedicated force-feedback steering wheel/shifter/gas 'n' brake pedal combo setup deal). Forza Motorsport 4 demands such a serious setup indeed (having bought the LE version of FM4 a little while back...it's quite HTF at retail nowdays).

It's a 'shit NFS because the last good one was Hot Pursuit 2' collection!

Nice one!

Wasted countless hours playing HP2 on pc lan, never touched the 1p. Porsche unleashed was awesome at the time also.

Shift 2 looks good and is quite satisfying but it's not really got the arcade fun or racy storyline of the other titles- slightly more like one of those simulator titles, there's a lot of concentration on very accurate driving. If you like Forza Motorsport then it might be for you!
My fave is Hot Pursuit for knockabout action :D

Can't help with steering wheels though cos we just use the ol' 360 pads...

Me too! It would be great to see it on Xbox though we clearly have different tastes regarding the other titles.

The Shift series was EA's attempt at making racing simulators. I suppose they're good to get into the genre but they pale when compared to Forza and GT. The physics are WAY off (cars feel like driving on ice).

I actually played Shift 1 all the way to the platinum trophy, but after playing F1 2010 and GT5 I can't get back to it anymore.

I don't really play any nowadays. Last one was GT5 until I got bored, I guess.

I'd play the new NFS titles but I'm on a strict "must not increase backlog" rule right now. Want to check out Shift 2, Hot Pursuit and The Run at some point.

I was told Shift 2 is worse than the first game, is that true?

Shift 2 does seem a bit monotonous if you've already played the first one but it's still definitely worth giving it a go. The only one I found dull was Pro Street, all the rest are fab.
Although the deep gaming cognoscente clearly think otherwise, I love the arcade physics and teenage storylines of the NFS series and the general fun of it all hence the OP!

If anything this thread is an indication that there's too many fucking NFS games. The 360 came out in 2005, and there's 8 games. That's more than one per year.

Hot Pursuit 2 is the one with the Opel Speedster and such on the Xbox as well right?

If so I played it, quite thoroughly enjoyed it. Also played the demo for NFS II - best left back in the stone age where it belongs.

You know what they should do? Scrap the NFS series and re-brand Burnout as NFS. Then maybe Burnout would sell! I am genius.

Yeah and that bright orange McLaren too! I played tons of that on PC online multiplayer when there were hundreds of matches online at a time and it was sooooo much funnnn. As was Trackmania Sunrise.

I must say that this off-topic section does seem to be replete with miserable negative pricks, but then again I suppose those members with real friends, sex lives, families , jobs, self esteem etc are probably too busy engaging with living to post here eh? :D

Pfft, exactly the sort of thing I'd expect a habitual pirate with a racist avatar to post - isn't the entire board like that?

Apparently so- I should've posted in some "Contemporary Need For Speed Appreciation" Forum instead shouldn't I?
If it was called ニードフォースピード and only available as a PCB it's stand a better chance.
What more should I expect from people who don't even respect XII Stag?

So lets get this straight. You pirate one of the few genres of games that are actually worthy of financial investment, from small devs that need your cash, but buy physical copies of games from a franchise that arguably isn't from everybody's friend EA :?

Although most of the NFS series is better than XII Stag, I'll give them that.

Calm down! Have you all accidentally taken some of BIL's steroids?
Now I'm being critiscised for buying games :D
Why don't you like that pic?
Is it the tiger?

How can something as innocent as a lovely NFS collection generate such bitterness?
Like I said it's gotta be jealousy...

Well it's going the same place as a lot of threads on this forum these days- a place where kids who were picked on at school can pretend to be hard, virgins can pretend to have girlfriends and bigots can pretend to be morally outraged. Welcome to the interweb!

Silly me: I was expecting at least a "I like NFS too. It's nice to have all of them " comment somewhere.
If you can get this angry about a photo of an Xbox collection you'd better not watch the news or you'll have a coronary....
...also (and I'm looking at you stryc9) how can you manage to make the leap into piracy accusations from a photo of legitimate boxed games?
More and more at the moment, everyone's just spoiling for a fight...
...but as long as I can evade Sgt Cross it's gonna be alright :D

This kind of comment really amuses me.

People are way too eager to call a game shit before even playing it. It's perfectly fine if you gave it a honest try and didn't like it, but going "it's mainstream so it's crap" is just nuts.

Plenty of games nowadays have demos so you can give it a go without spending a cent. Be more open-minded and, who knows, you'll find mainstream games that are actually enjoyable.

I guess I should be crucified for enjoying the demos of The Run and Battlefield 3.

I'm down with NFS.. sort of. I liked the first game a lot as a spiritual sequel to Test Drive. But later on I tried NFS Underground and NFS Nitro and it seemed like they were just slapping the NFS name on every EA racing game. But, Hot Pursuit seemed great (I had the PC demo), so if any of these are like that one, then rock on :D
