Hi all, I just published an article to my personal blog. I contacted Yamamoto-san, editor in chief of Shooting Gameside, and he graciously agreed to be interviewed for my pokey, deadbeat personal blog I just launched!
Here is the interview, I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Your comments are welcome, good or bad!
Great to hear that he's considering selling English-translated issues as PDFs. He should crowdsource the translation work--I'm sure there's a few people here and elsewhere who'd gladly do it for free.
However, anyone who lists Darius Burst as their second favorite shmup of all time is truly deluded and insane.
And Burst was outsourced to Pyramid, whose only previous credits include the DBZ Budokai series.
Was there really no one left at Taito who knew how to make a shmup? Why didn't they just get G.Rev, who developed G-Darius before becoming their own company?
I did a translation of an interview with Yotsubane (Crimzon Clover) from Shooting Gameside #2 here. Been struggling to find something short and sweet in other issues.
Not saying Darius Burst is in my top 5 at all but if Old School
hori shmups "flicks your bean" then why not.
Each to there own I guess.
Check out the thoughts of the game on Videogameimports he
loves it to bits.
Oh, awesome interview Pyongyang made a great read.
