Of course. It's a turd.

In the name of gamers everywhere I'd like to take a moment to thank the feeble minded fools who are purchasing the DLC of this game. By spending money on stuff that should really be free and on the disc, you are actively encouraging game companies to continue with this misbegotten practice. Thank you for helping to bring about this bave new world of gaming, you are a credit to the species.
I had to check my calendar for a moment to make sure it didn't say 2005.
DLC is here to stay, love it or hate it. I'd rather it be this way to have extra characters and music that I don't need and can still play online if I choose not to buy, rather than FPS map packs that are essentially required to play the game online once they're released.

I don't see the relevance. Because DLC was wrong for the past 6 years it has now stopped being wrong? Lucky for the black poulace of the USA that people with your mindset were in the minority 150 years ago, else they'd still be slaves to this day.

Anyway, you go ahead and pay your idiot tax. To each his own.

I like you. I always need a good bit of humor in the early afternoon to get me through the day.
Lemme go grab my bible to both defend and reject DLC just like slavery. If you can't see the difference between racial injustice and luxury purchases, my deepest condolences.

OK guys, new DLC just came out for the JP version, but its little bit different.

Hanafuuma's PE outfit for 160MSP (obviously...)

Plus 2 new gamerpic sets that the NA MP also has.

So I'm guessing that there won't be any outfits for Strarf and Kokoro yet? Since it would be nice to see Kokoro in her Uniform and Strarf in something random though. But at least more gamer pics for other characters is a welcome start, at least now also coming for the NA Marketplace too, lol. And now for the NA side...
----------------------------------
4th DLC batch for NA released.

Madoka's Dynastic Dress / Diol's Heirloom Dress: 160MSP (each, with free library)
BGM Pack 9: Kokoro Belmont (440MSP)
Gamer Pics Sets 1-3 (80MSP each)

#1 includes Anoa/Tron/Madoka/Diol/Tita
#2 includes Arnval/Esmaralda/Poini/Hanafuuma/Hyper Anoa
#3 includes Strarf/Kokoro/Venom/Operetta/Dark Force

More DLC for OE in JP, this time...

A bonus stage at St. Gradius Academy, and the cost of it is 480MSP with free library/catalog. And that's it. lol. (Also, the banner states EX stage 1, so they're may be more? Well, who knows.)

More NA DLC coming now, this time...

Tita's Bacterian Force Uniform (160MSP)
BGM Pack 7: Hanafuuma (440MSP)
St Gradius Academy Stage (480MSP)

I find it funny we get the Bonus Stage around the same time the JP version gets it, its like I said, getting kinda close to the JP version's DLC though.

So if I DL the free online pack for the extra stage that means I can play it if I'm playing online with someone who bought it?

Does anyone even play online? I tried once the day the game came out (no one was online). I haven't really played the game since that day, so I wouldn't know.

There were a few people the first week; they're practically all gone now. It doesn't help that the JPN and US versions aren't compatible.

I thought the character and BGM packs were a bit unsubstantial, but I'll gladly jump on an entire new stage! I still mean to buy Kokoro, though.

Yeah, go right ahead, problem is, the DLC will cost more than the game itself though, and a lot of memory space if you're willing to get all of the DLC, for me, everything else though, except the BGM, which I can just play it off my HDD anyway.

Also, the Bonus Stage is also good with spoilers and cameos galore.

I'm just gonna buy Kokoro and whatever stages they add. I don't think the other DLC characters offer anything radically new.

Just picked up and played through the EX Stage. That was really enjoyable and I hope they bring out some more stages. 480 MSP seemed a little high, but maybe I'm off-base there?
YouTube video of my expert run with Gesshi so people can see what the stage looks like:

Guess I'll have more stuff to download. Better get to it.

I don't suppose there is a separate topic on anyone recruiting for Co-op for Shooters like this game?
If it is, anyone can direct me to it?

I have to thank you for that vid Serraxor - I wasn't planning to buy any of the soundtrack DLC but I'm gonna pick up the Esmerelda & Poini one since I saw that Namiki did some of the music for that one.

Well, if anyone is really going to spend more than the game itself on DLC completely, here's what you might spend based on DLC alone. Note: This isn't final and more DLC from the JP version will still be coming unless its done.

10 BGM Packs (440MSP each = 4400MSP total)
9 Outfits (160 each = 1440MSP total)
3 Gamer Pics Sets (80MSP each = 240MSP total)
2 DLC Chars (Strarf and Kokoro are 400 MSP each = 800MSP total)
1 EX stage (480MSP)

At this rate, you'll be willing to spend over 7200MSP which would be around $90 US, and maybe more when they keep on coming. Of course, most of this DLC is on the JP Marketplace, and not the NA marketplace yet until they release it there.

Also, about that review from BH, to me, its so-so, although in my prev. post I said I don't give 2-cents anymore about reviews, BH is an exception.

Both, I'd say, I like the genre as much as the next guy, but yeah...Anyways, the review is fine, no need for changes.

Is the review so-so, or the game? I know the game is so-so, though the mechanics are sound to me making it worth it in the end. Tell me how I can improve and I can!

And yeah, the DLC is pretty outrageous. I'm sticking to it though!

Are you twelve and penniless? This is a site where people will pay eight hundred dollars for an arcade board. Dropping ninety bucks on classic Konami music is as unusual as a sober Drauch.
Why is it called the Vic Viper/Warp Rattler? Because the Options trail behind it in a serpent-like fashion, and the iconic front fins are designed to invoke the image of a snake's fangs.

I'm with this guy. If you don't have something constructive to say, good or bad, then don't post in the thread.

This *IS* the more accurate statement.

I felt your review was pretty fair. Might just be me, but maybe you could have briefly mentioned the imbalance between some of the characters like their option count/style, upgrade order, and some charge attacks being far far superior to other characters.

Alright, EX Stage 2, now released (JP), titled Ebisu Star, and the stage as what the vague translated description says that it has something to do with Emon (Or its just a cameo stage primaraly to Ganbare Goemon), but we'll see more about it soon once someone uploads it. Like the other stage, this too is 480MSP. (Lib/Cat. Included)

Waiting on NA's release though...

Awesome news; hope they can get one more EX stage finished.

Do these attach onto the main game, or can they only be played individually? How do the leaderboards handle them?

They aren't ranked, at all. They can only be played in multiplayer mode, although nothing is stopping you from playing alone in multiplayer mode.

In multiplayer you can play them by themselves, or after the main loop, so the stage order is:
1 -> 7, EX1 -> EX8, back to 1.

6th Batch NA DLC released.

Esmeralda's Restaraunt Uniform and Poini's Apron Dress (160MSP each)
BGM Pack 1: Anoa Aoba (440MSP)
EX Stage 2: Yebisuboshi (480MSP)

And that's all for now...

Video of Yebisuboshi, expert run with Poini Kune. I think I might like this stage better than St. Gradius Academy.

Those backwards-scrolling sections with all the spears near the end are a bit evil.

Yeah, and Poini may not have been the best choice for the stage. But I like that these stages are doing something different and not simply rehashing the first 8 stages.
