Xbox Metal Slug 4&5 out today?
I'm seeing reports that this has shipped now. Has anyone found it anywhere yet who might have some impressions? I'll probably grab a copy anyway...

4 is shit; at best, it's dumb fun. Amazing Studio Aqua sound however...really pushing the Neo's capabilities with music there.
And I have some weird love for 5; to me, it kept the same Slug atmosphere, but transplanted it into some fresh environments and slugs. Re-invigorated the franchise in my mind, too bad 95% of the people out there think otherwise
I will agree the final boss seemed out of place and un-accounted for.

I must be weird because I like Metal Slug 4. I like the cartoony graphics, and I like the fact that there's NO ZOMBIES. 3 went overboard with Zombies and I couldn't stand it. I like snowmen much more.

Really? It's been a while since I played it, I guess. At least a year. Still compared to MS3, there isn't much zombies.LoneSage wrote:Haha, you mean aliens? Metal Slug 4 has zombies on Stage 4.

Alien Hominid's good for a first effort by an indie dev; worst part about it is that it feels cheap in some areas. But the vast number of mini games make up for it.
Metal Slug 1 is a classic; not only is it a social satire on war but it's just so damned amazing. People claim that after 1 the Slug series lost a bit of the satire, but it doesn't matter. IMHO, 1 is still the best out of the 6 of them.

naw, i do like metal slug better, but i do think behemoth did a great job on hominid, although it is a complete rip off of ms. anyway, i play pretty well in homid and id is not as random as people say. when there is some weird bullet patterns flyin, i dig. anyway, i do like ms much better though..
on another note, i played some more 4&5 yesterday. i don't know, but i like 4 better than 5. and the combo thing is kinda fun, i don't quite understand it but it seems neat so far. i liek the levels in 4 better than 5, or at least the first 3-4 levels of them... again though, 3 and X own so hard..

i use the slide a lot, i use it when some one is under me like i'm on a box, you can slide and in mid air you keep the slide animation but can shoot in any direction, in this case down.. it is also good for rushing through a mob while attacking., you wont die. and to quickly dodge bullets. it is usefull.

The slide is really useful on the robot enemies. Run upto them wait until they start to fire (or just slide anway) , slide under and and shoot them from hehind, it even works on the punching type.Gotta love that arbitrarily implemented slide move in Metal Slug 5.
In other words: what the fuck for?
Seriously.
It can also be useful on the lastbosses.
