How do you configure the controls for Giga Wing Generations?
I plan on using Joy2Key to map the buttons to my PS1 controller, but the game doesn't seem to recognize any keyboard inputs.

use typex_config to map the controls to the keyboard and then use Xpadder or JoyToKey

I tried the typex_config, and it recognizes when I enter n for "use mahjong panel" and "use 4-way joystick, but after that, when it asks for the buttons for the player controls, it doesn't recognize any keyboard inputs and just sits at the prompt.lewisit wrote:use typex_config to map the controls to the keyboard and then use Xpadder or JoyToKey

I need to use an ATI Card in my setup. Is it definately the ATI Radeon 4670 thats not up to the job as it's only a couple of years old? The ATI 9600 graphics cards used in the Taito Type X are over five years old. If it is the graphics card, can anyone recommend an ATI card to upgrade to?cabsR4pimps wrote:I believe the team that did it said you needed at least a Intel Core 2 Duo E6400, 1-2GB of RAM and a graphics card like the GeForce 8800 for the setup to run correctly.Andypc wrote:I have a PC with a C2D E8400, 2Gb Ram, ATI Radeon 4670 running windows XP 32bit. Is the ATI Radeon 4670 not upto the job or is something else causing the slowdown?
Re: Homura, Giga Wing Gens, Raiden 3 and Shiki III now hacked
I'm not sure GPU is the bottleneck. The resolution is puny and there are not that many polygons or multitexturing going on to cap the fillrate or anything.

Re: Homura, Giga Wing Gens, Raiden 3 and Shiki III now hacked
That's what I was thinking, but am not sure what is causing the slowdown. As I said Raiden IV and Gigwings run perfectly, but Homura and Shikigami no Shiro III have really bad slowdown. I checked all the setting I can thing of. i.e. ensuring the ATI settings are set to performance i.e. No AA. My systems should be able to handle the x1 stuff.moozooh wrote:I'm not sure GPU is the bottleneck. Why would you try shiki3 on this when it has a 100% accurate and awesome pc port then you can download obviously i cant provide links.

I'm actually looking forward to being able to play Homura. It looks great. It's just that these are the two games that have bad slowdown for some reason.Vamos wrote:Why would you try shiki3 on this when it has a 100% accurate and awesome pc port then you can download obviously i cant provide links.

Sorry but that has nothing to do with what i just said ? Get the pc PORT of shiki 3 it runs perfectly with 100% accuracy.Andypc wrote:I'm actually looking forward to being able to play Homura. Re: Homura, Giga Wing Gens, Raiden 3 and Shiki III now hacked
I had a bad slowdown experience with Homura on an older PC once, until I swapped out the ATI HD2400 for a Geforce 520. Raiden IV also had slowdown for the first 20-30 sec. of stage 1.
This fixed the slowdown on Homura and R4, but the one bad side effect of going with an Nvidia card is that Tetris TGM3's fireworks don't look right (they don't have that glow).

Thanks for letting me know about the PC Port, I will give it a go if i can't solve the slowdown issue.Vamos wrote:Sorry but that has nothing to do with what i just said ? emuline.orgs list the ATI Radeon HD 4670 as one of the graphics cards that will run the all TypeX games at 100% framerate! It also says the you need 3Gb of ram to run some games a without slowdown. So maybe extra Ram might solve the issue?Andypc wrote:I need to use an ATI Card in my setup. Is it definately the ATI Radeon 4670 thats not up to the job as it's only a couple of years old? I have an ati hd 4670 and it plays all the type x and x2 games perfectly.
Re: Homura, Giga Wing Gens, Raiden 3 and Shiki III now hacked
Whats the rest of your setup? I ran the task manager while running Homura and at no point did the E8400 CPU max out yet the game runs to slow. I have some extra PC2-8500 memory on order just incase 2gb is not enough as suggested on another forum. If the ATI HD 4670 is not the problem, i am wondring if it's a software issue as I have seen other people reporting the games running to slow and to fast.ratsflif wrote:I have an ati hd 4670 and it plays all the type x and x2 games perfectly.

Re: Homura, Giga Wing Gens, Raiden 3 and Shiki III now hacked
Finally got the type x config to work. For some reason, it wouldn't recognize the keyboard inputs on my main PC, so I had to configure the inputs from my file server and then copy and paste them back to my main rig and map the controls using Joy2Key. The keyboard inputs aren't recognized by the type x loader, but they're recognized in game. Weird.
Anyway, my specs are an AMD Athlon II X4 640 Propus, 4GB of DDR3, and onboard Radeon HD 42500. Raiden IV, Giga Wing Generations, Homura, and Trouble Witches AC all run flawlessly, so an HD 4650 should be able to get the job done.

I remember having similar problems with Taito Type X titles. Both Homura and Raiden IV run at horrendous framerates. Giga Wing Gen was the only Type X game that was playable. Type X² games like SF4, BBCS and KOFXIII run without a glitch at 60fps.

only played homura myself but the framerate is perfectly fine if you play it in tate(default) - when I tried to rotate it the framerate dropped a whole lot
Re: Homura, Giga Wing Gens, Raiden 3 and Shiki III now hacked
I added an extra 1Gb of ram today taking my system upto 3Gb, but it made no difference to the speed problem in Homura and Shiki III. I am running both games at 640x480 in Tate(default) as the screen in my Egret 3 is corrrectly rotated for vertical games, so screen rotation is not the issue. I have checked all the ATI setting. I also downloaded the games again form a different source, but the issue is still the same. I am sure it's not my hardware as it runs the other TypeX games perfectly and should easily be able to run both these games at the correct speed. I have had emultors run to fast when they were copied onto faster machines due the fact that some emulators determines the speed of your system and uses it to ensure the game runs at the right speed. Could this be a similar issue with this software.
Re: Homura, Giga Wing Gens, Raiden 3 and Shiki III now hacked
What about a Core i7 2600k, 16GB of ram, and GeForce GTX580? Are these hacked games worth the effort to hunt down? I'm not experienced in running or finding them.

Homura runs perfectly for me with 2.33 ghz dual core, 2gb ram and GeForce 8600GT so I doubt it's a hardware problem
Re: Homura, Giga Wing Gens, Raiden 3 and Shiki III now hacked
Any idea's. I read that one of the frontends available fixes issues with some vertical games running at the wrong speed. Any idea's what the actual issue is and how to fix it.Andypc wrote:I added an extra 1Gb of ram today taking my system upto 3Gb, but it made no difference to the speed problem in Homura and Shiki III. I have tried the d3d8.dll and d3d9.dll provided by joboto in both full screen and windowed using DXwnd, but still get the problem of both games running to slow. I am running them in low res (640 x 480 @ 60Hz) with no rotation.

Looks like nVidia has fixed something.
I upgraded my nVidia GeForce driver to a recent version (285.62) and now fireworks render correctly in TGM3. That computer has a GF GTX 580 in it.
On my GeForce 520 computer with an older nVidia driver, the fireworks look like shit. I'll put 285.58 on that one and see what happens.

All type x games have worked great, tested on 2 laptops and 1 pc. Except Samurai Shodown, too heavy a game to run on my hardwarez

Re: Homura, Giga Wing Gens, Raiden 3 and Shiki III now hacked
I might add that with Raiden III for the PC, the only difference the downgrade from GF6800XT to Radeon 8500 made were some minor glitches (wobbly textures here and there), while the performance remains steady.
Now hacked GWG isn't playable on my setup, (glitches and crashes), but the real botleneck seems to be the amount of RAM (1GB here, which I doubt the games were optimised for). In a nutshell, you should be fine as long as you have enough RAM onboard. No need for any super-fast CPU or GPU.
Mind you, the PC port of Shiki III works flawlessly on my dated PC.

I have old dual core intel - 2.1ghz, 2gb ddr2, crappy geforce 7500 LE (best card i could get with s-video out still for my crt) and everything runs 100% here.
You people with problems must be running either shitty OS (win 7) or trying to rotate the screen (why not just tate and be happy?).

Re: Homura, Giga Wing Gens, Raiden 3 and Shiki III now hacked
I'm running XP and not trying to rotate the screen as the monitor in my Egret 3 is already tate! Homura and Shiki III run really slow, but the othe games run perfectly. I have tried a clean install if XP and it still doesn't fix the problem.spl wrote:I have old dual core intel - 2.1ghz, 2gb ddr2, crappy geforce 7500 LE (best card i could get with s-video out still for my crt) and everything runs 100% here.

Since I can't get Homura and Shiki working, could someone please repost the file to another location. I doubt that Megaupload will be availalable anytime soon.for homura and shiki III use this file, (aspect ratio a bit off on my laptop though)
