Re: Under Defeat HD
If this turns out well, I would love to see a widescreen Border Down. Honestly, those are the only two games, of theirs, that I like. Unless you count G-Darius...which rules over these two IMHO.

It is--Microsoft won't allow retail-bound games to be released on XBLA without some serious rebranding and content differences. It would have to be Games on Demand.DrTrouserPlank wrote:An XBLA isn't beyond the realms of possibility seeing as Grev have released other stuff on there.
Re: Under Defeat HD
G.Rev updated the official website. Release date is February 23rd. They posted a screenshot of the wide-screen mode and it looks like they're pulling a RayStorm HD (zoom in the screen slightly and then widen the field of view). Looks like they've fixed several of the HUD elements, although the flashing WAIT when your pod is recharging should be above the meter, not overlapping it.. and the boss health meter should be beneath the boss timer, not over it.

Re: Under Defeat HD
Surely they have got to move all the HUD elements to the edge of the screen? It looks ridiculous otherwise. What would be the point of making a widescreen version but leaving the HUD in the middle of the screen? (basically where it would be in the 3:4 frame only with more image outside it.)Kiken wrote:G.Rev updated the official website. Release date is February 23rd. I don't like the look of the wide screen. I really hope that G-rev features an arcade port with the original screen ratio.

It does have an arcade mode, and I think tate has been confirmed somewhere. Whether arcade mode is HD or not I don't know.Phellan Wolf wrote:I don't like the look of the wide screen. I really hope that G-rev features an arcade port with the original screen ratio.

HD modes are a joke in most cases, so I don't care. I just want to play it on the 360 so that I won't need to switch to my DC to play the game.DrTrouserPlank wrote:It does have an arcade mode, and I think tate has been confirmed somewhere. Damn it, G-rev should have made a 2 games package. Border Down should receive the same treatment I gues that will see it sooner or later further down the year. IMO, Border Down is the best G-rev shooter, so let's hope to see it on both, PS3 and 360.

Re: Under Defeat HD
We got Senko DUO and Strania, G.Rev deserves a bit more of a rest from new games.
Re: Under Defeat HD
I'm pretty sure it will be. It would take practically zero effort to do after everything else they're doing to this port.DrTrouserPlank wrote:Whether arcade mode is HD or not I don't know.
Well, after Border Down, the only G.rev game left without a current-gen port is Doki Doki Idol Starseeker.mesh control wrote:"I hope they keep porting old games instead of making new ones."

I'm kinda surprised that they haven't dug that one up yet...though IIRC they did make a mobile version of it at some point.Cuilan wrote:Well, after Border Down, the only G.rev game left without a current-gen port is Doki Doki Idol Starseeker.

That was a generalized response to everyone on the forum who seems more interested in ports, rather then new games or IP's.

Re: Under Defeat HD
Tate is confirmed. Since the game has 4:3 screen support, it'll have that at any of the 360's 4:3 resolutions (I assume the same on the PS3, although, the PS3 does not support quite as many resolutions as the 360 does). The question is whether or not it'll natively support 5:4 screens (which I'm guessing it'll run in a windowed 16:9).DrTrouserPlank wrote:It does have an arcade mode, and I think tate has been confirmed somewhere. Re: Under Defeat HD
Strania and Senkoro games were really fun. I enjoyed them a lot, but now that they've decided to bring back their old glories they should consider to port Border Down too. You know it won't hurt anybody and furthermore, more people will be able to enjoy those games without paying the DC version high prices. If that wish is a sin then send me to hell.mesh control wrote:That was a generalized response to everyone on the forum who seems more interested in ports, rather then new games or IP's.
Re: Under Defeat HD
NCSX have just opened up pre-orders for the game (both editions on both consoles).
NCSX wrote:Limited Reproduction Edition
UD HD will be available in regular and limited edition versions.
The limited edition includes:
1) Kami ・ Strategy DVD*. Video of expert game play and HOW TO tutorial for the arcade version
2) NEW ORDER Soundtrack (temporary title). Rising game music composer Yosuke Yasui of Super Sweep, who worked on titles such as Mamoru-kun is Cursed! and Eschatos, brings his talent to make a renewed Under Defeat soundtrack!
3) Plus! Special Limited Edition box featuring an original illustration by character designer Nanashiki Yamamoto
Fans will also be happy to hear that the game package design of the limited edition will be based on the original Dreamcast limited edition design! We will be back in a few days with more details on the limited edition, Remix Mode and more!!
*The Kami ・ Strategy DVD includes re-edited footage used in INH's INSANITY DVD THE SOLDIER OF FORTUNE "UNDER DEFEAT" (published by TEAM ENTERTAINMENT, April 2011).
Re: Under Defeat HD
So this new soundtrack is ONLY available on audio CD's rather than selectable in game?

Amiami opened pre-orders as well. Nice prices as usual.

Do we have images of the SE and LE boxes yet? All I'm seeing is that one piece of character art everywhere. I assume that'll be the LE artwork, but I have nothing to compare it to.

I was about to preorder on NCSX and then I noticed the prices on amiami...I have no experience with this site, why so much cheaper? Is this the better choice here?

I've ordered from Amiami a few times before. You will get an email a few days before the launch, then you pay. They have fantastic packaging and shipping rates are very reasonable. Well, since you're in the US, NCSx is probably a bit faster, for for European buyers Amiami is *way* better than Play-Asia.
NCSx takes the japanese suggested retail price and adds their usual margin to this. Amiami takes the suggested retail as well and subtracts 10-15% pre-order bonus. Amiami is a LARGE retailer for anime collectibles. Their game section is quite small, but overall their service is great.

It's not "cheaper", rather, the RRP. NCSX has been screwing people over forever. Amiami is definitely the better option here.Deca wrote:I was about to preorder on NCSX and then I noticed the prices on amiami...I have no experience with this site, why so much cheaper? Is this the better choice here?

Wouldn't NCSX be just as cheap for people living in the US due to shipping?

I'm willing to bite on Amiami if I can get a solid estimate of the shipping cost. If all I save is a few dollars I'll go through NCSX.Fudoh wrote:I've ordered from Amiami a few times before. Also going to mention Border Down again, because BORDER DOWN.
Why is it called the Vic Viper/Warp Rattler? Because the Options trail behind it in a serpent-like fashion, and the iconic front fins are designed to invoke the image of a snake's fangs.

Play Asia have always been exemplary for me and offer a decent standard mail service at a reasonable price.Fudoh wrote:I've ordered from Amiami a few times before. AmiAmi is very vague and has two shipping options. By a fucking boat (as best as I can gather assuming SAL is surface and land) which will take a month, or pay about £15-20 for courier. Nothing in-between these two extremes. I even inquired once about airmail and they just said they didn't offer it which I found very strange. Courier will probably get clobbered for VAT as well which will wipe out any savings you make (if you can even make any after the expensive delivery)
Edit: just checking their site, even if SAL was viable, you're still talking about 7000 yen for the item plus about 1100 yen SAL registered. It's £67. I can get it for about that on play without having to worry about anything. Savings are minimal.

Re: Under Defeat HD
SAL isn't by boat.

And on Amiami's order page:
http://www.post.japanpost.jp/int/servic ... al_en.html
And on Amiami's order page:
SAL takes about a week and a half to NZ. I'd opt for this if it's an item on sale, or not something I want as soon as possible.Amiami wrote:- Inner dimensions of the largest boxes we use for SAL Small Packet shipment are;
1) 372 x 256 x 210 mm (box weight: approx. 460 gram) or
2) 390 x 315 x 150 mm (box weight: approx. 540 gram)
Please allow some buffer space inside and expect each boxe's actual capacities to be about 10% less than the above volumes.
- Shipments heavier than 2.0kg or larger than the above size limits will be quoted with "SAL Parcel" shipping.
New shipping method SAL Parcel!
Up until now, even if you chose SAL Small Packet (Registered/Unregistered) as the shipping method for your order if the size or weight of the order exceeded Small Packet limits it would have to be sent via EMS.
However we received an overwhelming number of requests to add SAL Parcel as a shipping method - and now we are finally ready to offer this service!
Like SAL Small Packet, SAL Parcel is slow, but it is also trackable, is not restricted by size or weight, and compared to EMS is a much more reasonably priced option!
You don't even have to worry about your parcel's size or weight when placing an order - just choose SAL Small Packet Registered or Unregistered and we will do the rest!
When your items arrive in stock if we find that they are too large or heavy to be shipped by Small Packet we will simply process your order as a SAL Parcel shipment and send you the completed shipping price on your final invoice!
SAL Parcel is always trackable, and there is no "registered" or "unregistered"option - just choose the Small Packet option you would like to to use, and if your order ends up being too large to be shipped as a Small Packet it will simply be switched over to SAL Parcel.
Also, in the unlikely event that you would like even a small-sized package to be sent via SAL Parcel and not Small Packet please be sure to make a note of that in the Notes section of your order. All parcels marked for SAL shipment and eligible for Small Packet rates will be sent as Small Packets unless we receive a special request for SAL Parcel shipping.

Re: Under Defeat HD
It seems quite slow though seeing as NZ isn't that far from Japan. Airmail takes 10 days to the Uk I find. Wonder how long SAL would take?
Having just run off to weigh one of the 360 LE's, akai katana is 280g. Which would equate to 790yen registered and I assume UD will be about the same. it's only 890yen if it goes over-weight a bit.
It's £63.50 all in at amiami.
Play-asia is £77 via registered airmail, and thats with a coupon as well.

So wait, what would it cost to ship the LE from amiami to the US? Just, ballpark estimate. I'd really prefer to do business with NCSX if its comparable in price.

790-890yen registered SAL (average $9.50)
380-480yen unregistered SAL (average $5.50)
This is based on AKS weighing 280 grams and assuming that UD + packing material comes in at a similar weight. The upper bounds of those postage figures allow for up to 400g.
