Question. I want to figure out what the plug is called on the CPS2 motherboard that you attach the kick harness too. Reason being, my cab is wired up with a CPS2 kick harness, and I want to make up cables to convert a CPS1 kick harness to use with what's already fitted, and also to use with a padhack if I ever decide to throw consoles in the cab (have three buttons going through the scart adapter, and 3 through the CPS2 harness).
Does anyone know what the port is called and where I could get some?

From the AO Wiki:
Connector Details
Note: You need the connector and enough pins ( at least 8 ) for your project. They are two seperate part numbers.
You only need the Board End Connector if you are making a kick harness extension, adapter or repairing a motherboard
All parts are manufactured by Hirose Electric Japan and are part of the DF1B series.

Re: Male end of CPS2 Kick Harness
Yeah I realize that, but depending on how often he's going to be changing from CPS1 to CPS2, it wouldn't be too hard to have both harnesses in the cab, and just switch as needed? It's only 3 buttons after all, and if they were grounded to somewhere other than the kick harness, you would only have to change 3 connections.kernow wrote:Uhm, that's a complete cable.shmuppyLove wrote:Found some at JammaBoards.com

Actually you could build a switch very easily to do that as well, a 3 pole 2 position switch. Wire the three signal lines up from each of the CPS1 and CPS2 harness to either side of the switch, ground the buttons somewhere else (main JAMMA harness), and you're good to go.
Or am I crazy?

Re: Male end of CPS2 Kick Harness
You could just splice the wires too, or have them meet at a terminal strip in the control panel. Just wanted something neater. I'll look into those parts kernow linked too.
Re: Male end of CPS2 Kick Harness
I did my CPS1, CPS2, System12, and Midway MK3 connector each to its own male 6pin molex connector. Then I have 1 female 6 pin molex connector to the controller ports. So depending on the game I just have 1 connector to unplug and replug.
