Super Emotia RGB Brightness Issue

Post by daskrabs »

I'm having an issue getting my Extron Super Emotia woking with my Dreamcast.

Dreamcast > VGA Box (480p) > Super Emotia > RGBS > Sony PVM

Here's what I'm getting:

As you can see, it's way too bright. I'm guessing that the RGB lines need to be stepped down with resistors. FYI, the 75 ohm button on the Extron does nothing. There is no 75 ohm button/setting on my monitor. Any advice?

Probably a source-related issue since the DC VGA levels are *WAY* too high. If you're going to add resistors do it to the input, not the output.

Yeah I had a similar issue with my 360 on one crt, and not on another [both sony trinitrons, different models].
Actually turning down just the sync a bit turned out to be my issue; might be a shortcut for you?

Although I ended up making a little box with 4 pots to turn down each of the 4 lines individually, after all its useful thing to have to tweak colors, especially if you end up swapping between a couple of devices with the emotia.

[Typically the picture from the emotia is very slightly desaturated in coloration/contrast - so occasionally may warrant a bit of fiddling if you're picky :)]
