This he is my fave so far.

I hope this the 360 is patched when I turn my 360 on later, reading the patch notes it seems some big changes have been made for the better.

It shall be out someday, eh ?

Plus, I played this afternoon and felt like I was summoned more than usual. Are US/EU servers mixed ?

I'd forgotten about the fact that twinkling titanite is now for sale. Have to rethink my wardrobe.. right now I've got the Helm of Haldor, Elite Knight Armor +7, Wanderer mancette +6, and silver knight leggings. Sometimes things get complicated... Luckily I'm still in the Silver Knight section of Anor Londo and can adjust...

How would the patch affect my chances at completing a level 1 run? I've just started one and I don't want to get screwed when it finally arrives in PAL land.

These are the changes for 1.4 and 1.5 together. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011- ... ased-notes

So it will make the game harder since pyro magic is nerfed. That is if the pyro glove has a upgrade level cap.

Yay, patch. Now let us comment and ask few questions :

Code: Select all

    * You can see resonance signs now.
What are those ?

Code: Select all

    * Humanity Item drop rate increased from 10 to 210
Does that mean we'll see something like 20 times more humanities dropped by ennemies that drop them ?

Code: Select all

    * Lock-on changing/switching got easier (more responsive).
Yay, those sticky lock were awful. Once locked, I could not switch to a target that was closer to me...

Code: Select all

    * Overall increase in souls gained (~2-2.5 times more)
Does this mean that this standard 80 souls dropping dredgling will now drop 160-200 souls ? That would be crazy.

Code: Select all

    * You can hit Select to rate messages.
Yay, I love to rate message, but the fact that you have to use the stone to do that just killed the process.

* Silver Knight's Sword lightning effect removed. Now enchantable.
Hell yeah. Bad timing for me though, won't have much time to play with the the patch right away.

Giant blacksmith is pretty godtier now. can't wait to get to Anor Londo again and mess up blades of the darkmoon :p

Shit, now I want to go back and play dark souls, but the good thing about playing Skyrim is it will let all the dust settle with this patch before I make my next character.

I'm guessing this is a typo for 100-210.

So far I've noticed that some enemies are the same, some have been bumped a bit (silver knight 900>1k) and some elite variants of enemies get a bigger boost (silver knight archer 900>1000>1300). I imagine the addition of souls to skeletons makes up a lot of the disparity too.

It does indeed seem that the Giant Blacksmith is now unequivocally the place to be.

A question of my own: I've noticed that sometimes certain enemies' soul yield drops over time. Does anyone know the cause of this? I'm guessing either leveling, killing a certain number of them, or beating the area boss.

Considering I've done this... it renders your level 1 practically useless if using Iron Flesh and Crystal Ring Shield. Best of luck fighting four kings in the new patch at level 1, lol. Stay offline if you ever want to see it through.

I doubt it's impossible. I took four kings on my first try without much trouble with lvl10 character and fire weapon +2, although I did have to use a humanity or two because I ran out of flasks. I was wearing full giants armor, ring of favor and used combustion with a unascended fire glove ~+8.

What were you doing with Giants at level 10? Sounds like luck. I also don't recall saying it was "impossible".

Ah sorry I mean't stone giant's armor, not giants armor. My bad

It was just armor that's very easily obtainable early and has rather high armor rating. At low level you'll 100 poise because of the weight which is pretty much a must for the boss on low level.

I can't access this, 'til tonight. I've read that the patch improved the framerate in Londo and Blight Town, but some people say they don't notice.
Any first hand accounts?

Getting summoned often in Undead Burg but the framerate is still pretty sketchy. I can't say I've noticed an improvement.

Was curious about the patch so I got it anyway. Breezed through Blighttown and discovered a shortcut I hadn't noticed before (though I didn't use it). I think Ornstein and Smough will be the first real test. Sen's Fortress is next, anyway, but I might grab a moonlight butterfly soul just in case the shield is still useful.

Struggling to get back to this but fantastic game.

Save is at the point where i've just been cursed in the Depths, grinding for souls so i can get uncurse from the old boot behind the bars. 6000 souls. :/

Don't buy from her, instead go to the top of the bell tower in the undead parish and you can buy them from the merchant there for 3000 each.

Also it might be worth reverting to human form because, if I am not mistaken, you get a greater curse resistance.

Curses havnt been a problem for me so far, but thats because I went into new londo and picked up the curse ring after ringing the first bell. Even though I was getting raped by the ghosts in the chapel I just ran though it and looted most of it. EDIT (and make sure you farm those rats for humanity before you fight the boss in the depths)

BTW Is there only a limited supply of curse items for 3000? I can no longer buy them, unless its been patched out.

I tried my hand invading others (Forest Guild) for the first time. Got my arse handed to me hehe. Compared to 3 days ago when I was waiting forever for the Forest guild to invade me, and only a couple of low spec players at that. There was lots of PVPing going on with high spec characters testing out the patch, some with spears/polearms. (EDIT) Odd thing was that I was invaded by 3 npc (darkwaiths?) when I invaded the first person.

How is it normally for covenant PVP and the waiting time to invade others? For me when I put the ring on I had to wait 20 mins before I was summoned to fight, but once I had my first fight I was getting repeatedly summoned with only a minute waiting time.

Also how does pyro magic compare to against other forms of magic? Im specced mostly as pyro so ive no idea.

"You can see resonance signs now"
What are those ?
From the DS wiki
Miracle Resonance
"Some miracles have a "Resonance" property. If multiple players nearby in the network use these miracles, the effect for everyone is amplified." [1]
This can be seen in game as a white glowing ring hovering above the ground at the location where someone used a miracle with Resonance.

Started a new character and I'm really starting to notice the increase in humanity and souls.
Just reached the red dragon's bridge. The standard soul drop from the undead soldiers used to be 300 souls, but now you can pull in 555.

edit: looks like the enemy placement is a bit different too.

Getting my ass handed to me by Smough and the other one. Any tips? Playing a mostly melee character with a decently leveled pyro glove.

That would be great, especially if it changed enemy locations with each ng+ cycle.

It seems I cannot invade anyone, AT ALL. I tried about 50 times and received invasion failed message each time.

Had a black phantom spawn right in front of me with his back turned prior to the gargoyles. Probably had no idea what was about to happen. Two handed my weapon and started swinging. He was sandwiched right in between me and my white phantom.

You can block out most of the damage from the lightening butt stomp with your shield. Also Ornstein is weak to fire, that pyromancy you get for joining the chaos daughters is very good here.

And summoning someone for help is invaluable, especially for the first part of the fight. Solaire's sign is by the Silver archer if you missed it.

Getting slightly less slowdown on 360 at lower undead burg & blighttown. I think they just simplified the fire effects a little. Online definitely seems improved.. every time I've tried to summon someone it has worked so far.
