Hi all, new to the boards. Had my best run ever at Raiden tonight and thought I would share. Played on MAME platform.

Got to the same spot, with another 60,000 or so more. Think if I could actually get thru 1-6 and still have full powerups I'd have a shot at getting to 1-8.

I added the FM-Towns/Marty version, is there a difference between a Normal difficulty and Arcade difficulty in that version?

They're one and the same actually. ARCADE mode has Easy, Normal and Hard, with Normal as default. Then there's competition mode A and B, which start with one life and have slight changes in the color palette. Had an unbelievable game going thru 5 levels. Hadn't died and had 5 extra lives (managed to get the one at the end of 3rd level) and had over 1 million pts. Things start to break down in 1-6 for me tho, especially the part halfway thru where all the dive bombers start to rain down on you. I feel like I need to switch from my preferred laser and heat seaker missiles to the spread gun just to have enough screen coverage to deal with the dive bombers. Then when the 1st of the two gold minibosses comes up from behind you, I don't have the firepower to deal with him and end up wasting alot of bombs. Basically I need to figure out a way to deal with the dive bombers first without having to switch up my weaponry of choice. Any tips appreciated.
