I have accumualted a couple of shmups as of late and I've been curious about TATE mode, but there is no way I can put this thing on it's side. It's a 42 inch LG HDTV and most of the stands I've seen only work for about 20 or so inches.
Is there any possible way to enjoy this in TATE mode or am I stuck?
Stand for rotating a really large LCD?
Re: Stand for rotating a really large LCD?
Look for a VESA wall mount that has a rotatable arm or something. Should be the easiest solution [i.e. if your screen is in front of a wall).

Re: Stand for rotating a really large LCD?
Step 1: Find out what VESA standard your LCD screen has (Ex: 100 x 100 mm, 100 x 200 mm etc.) and get an idea of it's approximate weight.
Step 2: Find an appropriately sized wall mount that can pivot and install it. Make sure the bracket can bear the weight of your TV. If you are comfortable with home improvement, simply install it yourself (attach the support to wall studs, of course). If you aren't comfortable, hire a pro to install it for you.
Step 3: Enjoy sweet 42 inch TATE goodness.
Perhaps this will get you started: http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory ... V-Brackets
You'll want to look for brackets with "pivot" or "portrait" functions.

ooooo
There's someone here with a (50?60?") LCD/(Plasma?) on a Premier Mounts Mobile Nesting cart (PSD-BW) or something similar. I've been wanting one myself for awhile- but haven't made the jump (yet).

I'd wager something like this is what you'd be after- they have smaller versions I could've sworn.
Good luck- and post pics!

Re: Stand for rotating a really large LCD?
I was also looking for that some times ago. I must say I spent hours on this without finding a good option that would not cost $1000+.
And today, by clicking your links, it just takes me two minutes to find this :

Maybe worth a try...
EDIT : hmmm ... stand sold separately. Means you have to also buy the base + poles if you dont want to stick big screws in your wall. So almost $1000 budget anyway !

Moved to Hardware.

Re: Stand for rotating a really large LCD?
I posted a link in another thread with a similar question, but Monoprice has a really good selection of reasonably-priced stands. I haven't personally seen anything they have for screen sizes more than 23", but what I have seen is solid, functional, and attractive.

I have this stand (with black poles): http://www.premiermountscentral.com/Pre ... M1255.html
With this mount: http://www.premiermountscentral.com/Pre ... M1314.html
It works very well.
