Recently I tried the SyncStrike with the GBS-8220 using C-Sync with 220uF capacitor and the picture is almost pitch black. You can see some of the picture very faintly but it is mostly pitch black.
I also tried adding a 75ohm resistor and this made no difference.\
I also tried it without the SyncStrike and got the same results.
For starters the scaler does not handle 240p (the XRGB2+ does) and the image quality of the linedoubling XRGB2+ is far far superior.
Anyway.... glad you got it all working.
For PCBs, the slg3000 setup does not fare so well but for consoles, I do think it does look better than the XRGB-2plus. I've only tested RGB modded AV FC, SFC and N64 so far as the whole setup (slg, SS, Scaler) is very large and awkward so it's difficult to put it in my entertainment setup.

Have you tried adjusting the RGB dials on the scaler? My SMS is very dark on it and needs tweaking.
Do you have any other machines to try, even if they aren't consoles, but something with RGB scart on it? - EDIT, just seen you've tried others and it's only the sega stuff giving you trouble
I've got a first run MD1 and 32X. Will test it for you this weekend.
Works for me but occasionally loses sync for a second.
Also tested:
Mark III - works
Mega Drive Model 1 + Mega CD 1 + 32X - works
Game Gear w/ RGB mod - doesn't work
HiSaturn Model 1 - works
3DO w/ RGB mod - works
Jaguar - doesn't work

But doesn't the GBS8220 convert the incoming signal to 60Hz (which would cause choppy scrolling) ? Either that or the output would be 576p50 which your VGA input likely won't accept.

Conversion to 60Hz would be nice for PCBs that do not run exactly at 60Hz (MVS 59.9Hz?) and tend to be problematic.
I am thinking about this complete set or the XRGB 3 for playing with scanlines via RGB (Saturn/Supergun/PAL SNES would be a nice bonus).
none of these solutions is suited for PAL material, unless you can verify that your TV/monitor can handle 576p50 through VGA. With the XRGB you have the same problem. And you surely don't wanna play SNES games with a framerate conversion from 50 to 60Hz.
Any idea about the compatibility of Arcade PCBs and MVS Games on the XRGB 3 and/or the promissing looking SyncStrike/Scaler/SLG-Set? Any differences?
The XRGB-3 is pretty much compatible to everything in B0 (with upscaling, without scanlines). In B1 (with linedoubling, with scanlines) it all depends on your display. SS/GBS/SLG is compatible to everything.

More modern PCBs like UMK3 and Trog didn't work for me on the latter. 24kHz stuff like Model 2 games (I tried Sonic Fighters and Fighting Vipers) did work but had oversaturated picture and somehow were very pink. Namco Speed Racer and a stack of European developed PCBs also didn't work for me. Only the CPS-II games that I tried worked fine. Not a comprehensive test as I just tested stuff that arrived or were laying closeby.
Sync Strike comes with Screw Terminals. So just wire open end wires of your 5V PSU to the Sync Strike. Check out my Pictorial linked in my last post above.

Ok, I finally got my DVDO Edge back. Major props to them for repairing it.
Anyway, I clearly must have no idea what I'm doing, so if someone could help, I would appreciate it.
I am using the Sync Strike with a DVDO Edge. I cannot get anything to display unless I have something plugged into the sync stereo jack on the back of the Edge. If I plug H or V sync (or both) in on the other side of the RGB stereo jacks, I get no picture. Someone here told me I should only be plugging in the top one (H). I get no picture when I do that.
Is there any reason this would be the case? This is an RGB modded NES and an SNES.

Ah, yes. I did have the switch on CSYNC. Must have been because I couldn't get it to work otherwise.
I just tried it on HSYNC and no matter what I tried, it would not work with my RGB NES or SNES. Are they not outputting true HSYNC? Is there any way to make them do so by modifying the SCART cable or the system itself?

The Sync Strike does not seem to output a reliable HSYNC and for the connection you're trying to perform to the EDGE, this is what you need I'm afraid.
Of course it will work with using CSYNC input to the EDGE, but I assume you want to use the HSYNC input for better image quality from the EDGE.
IIRC the SNES was one of the consoles tha didn't work correctly with the Sync Strike for trying to get a HSYNC signal. I'm pretty sure my Syncblaster cable did work though for extracting HSYNC for the EDGE.

Yeah the whole reason I bought the SyncStrike was to use HSYNC for better image quality. Otherwise I would have just used some SCART to RGBC adapter.
So you are saying if I get the Syncblaster cable, I will be able to get HSYNC from the SNES? Keep in mind I was unable to get an HSYNC signal from my NES/AV Famicom as well.
