Neo Geo CD and Saturn style controllers

So as I've read these forums I will often hear people stating that the Saturn controller is the greatest pad for 2D games, and indeed the Saturn is the best pad I've used so far. But I rarely if ever hear any mention of the Neo Geo CD controller. This seems a little odd to me, considering the Neo Geo CD has a micro-switched pad, and not to mention it was made specifically for arcade style games, so it would seem to be a good rival to the Saturn pad. I've personally never used the Neo Geo pad, so I'd like to hear the pros and cons of this controller.

Also the company PDP released some versus fighting pads for the PS3 and 360 that appear to mimic the Neo Geo controller, has anyone here tried these? How do these compare to the above mentioned controllers, as well as the Saturn style copy-cats? (ASCII and Madcatz fight pads etc.)

That's cool to know, but is it any good? I'd really like to know how people would rank some of these controllers. I'm thinking about getting a 360 controller (or trying to modify one to work with it) for my friend since he doesn't much like arcade sticks and even if he did he can't spend the money on a proper one. I don't think I can stand watching him struggle with a 360 pad many more times while playing MvC3, and Espgaluda 2.

The d-pad on the Neo CD controller is a billion times better than the Saturn one. I don't know why people are so crazy about the Saturn pad. It seems to me it's just more of a lesser evil than a genuinely good product.
