360 to JAMMA

Post by antron »

anyone tried this?

http://www.goeasily.com/products739-1984.html

looks like is has controller pass-throughs to beat the controller security. (but you would need a funky USB cable to connect to the console)

looks like the JAMMA video pins are unconnected, so VGA only?

Interesting setup there, antron. I don't have one of those myself but just one of viletim's 1st-gen Scart to Jamma PCBs + official Microsoft 360 Euro Scart cable setup (but needs a hacked 360 pad or a PS360/PS360+ type of device for controller input).

yeah, me too, but this would get rid of all the hacking. but I just realized it must be 4 buttons only (JAMMA)

So it'd just be four buttons mapped out to the four buttons on a typical 360 controller -- buttons A, B, C & Y? Sure, most 360 shmups can be reconfigured to use all four buttons if it needed be (but most big studio released 360 games use more than the allotted four buttons in any case).

I wonder how much it costs though. If you already have a viletim unit, better to get some PS2->360 converters from etokki.com as they work without the need for wired 360 pads. I mention them because people already owning a viletim really miss out without some sort of PS2 JAMMA pad hack. 8)

$50 here:
http://www.aliexpress.com/store/707142/ ... -game.html

I haven't seen anything else that gets around having to hack a controller.
or am I missing something at etokki.com ?
their PSX to JAMMA is the reverse of this.

oh wait, this?:
http://etokki.com/Xbox360/Joytron-Paewa ... n-PCB-Only
that's a little easier than a padhack.

What I was going for it that it's better to get a working PSX/2->JAMMA then get adapters for the other systems you want to hook up. Or get a multi console chthulu http://www.lizardlick.com/Toodles-Cthul ... p_542.html

How about a programmable PS2 interface?

It's not ready yet, but should be before the end of the year.

:D
that will work, we knew we could count on you Tim.

but to finish this story up, I found more information about connecting the controls with this timer board here:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/X-360-arcade-ma ... 1719wt_724

now I am totally confused about the JAMMA connector:
but the USB to controller part looks interesting.
it's like this one, but it doesn't say xbox :? :

Looking good, man. Will the final product have the small daughterboard on top like that or is it just needed for developing it? I'm guessing that blue button is for on-the-fly button reassigning?

I have a bad feeling about that board. The description is kinda fishy at best too.

I think Tim's solution looks way better (plug and play and quality). Paired with this and you're good to go: http://etokki.com/Xtokki360

so that ebay seller added the 360 controller PCB as a stand alone item:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/X-360-USB-Jamma ... 713wt_1396

to bad the shipping is unreasonable. looks easy to use though. you could insert those wires into viletim's screw terminals and be set.

Wow, that actually looks really nice. The shipping is ridiculous though, those things must weigh next to nothing. Edit: Sellers offer more shipping options at the bottom incl. EMS. I would ask them for your options.

I decided to ask. For two units, HK Post to the US, $15 shipping. Not bad.

HK post is usually crazy fast. I don't get it.
