Made it to the dizzy heights of level 4 with that Tried novice mode and 1cc'd on my first go, too easy, guess there's no pleasing me. I do like the game though it's very entertaining, just need a little more practice I think.

Someone at Rising Star Games put some real effort into the manual; it's 24 pages, full colour, and does a good job of explaining the system and giving hints and tips for the various modes. I'm listening to the arrange album at the moment, which isn't knocking my socks off. It sounds like someone accidentally included the OST from a Sonic the Hedgehog game.
I notice that the DLC is up already. Black Label for 800MSP, 1.51 for 80MSP. Are they worth buying?
Couldnt believe it, walked into game in Winchester and sat on the shelf was ddp res. that never happened with deathsmiles, anyone know why this release was different.
Maybe RSG are trying to push this one out there a little more.
The Donpachi series is one of the most well-known Cave titles, so I guess they could expect more sales from it, hence it's more common in shops.
I found it in my local GAME store too, which I was very pleasantly surprised about.
Anyway, having only played this on the iPhone version before this, I've gotta say its a lot better to play. Something about touch controls just doesn't feel right (not to mention it really screws me over on the twitch-reflex and micro-dodging parts). Also, I've been excetedly waiting for Black Label for such a long time and it's just as wonderfully hard and fun as I'd hoped. Maybe 3 years or so later I'll be able to 1CC it :<
Sorry to ask a random question (seeing as I'm about to receive my copy of DFK relatively soon), but what's the highest score in Arrange A at the moment?
I've got a score of 2346,4672,8664 - ranked first at the moment, though I expect that to change once people get their copies. I never put much time into the japanese release - I remember seeing a replay where the player got double my score on the first stage.
Pretty good fun along with Black Label. Regular DFK still leaves me cold.

Per their update blog, they received part of their allocation so they were able to ship about 1/3 of their preorders today. The rest should be shipped out tomorrow.
Mine will probably ship tomorrow...though I expect to get it sometime next week, as I ordered the cheapest 5-day shipping and campus mailing services are inefficient. :'(

The one mistake /misquote tehy have is along the lines of there is 2 ways to keep you chain going and then have 3 lines items !

I know hzt picked his up from a store (from Game I think) on CoD:MW3 release day and was told by staff he was the first person all day not to pick up CoD, and he'd gone for DDP:R of all things. That guy just can't help but be cool.
I'm not very cool when I play this game actually, there's a lot of bomb spamming and failure to understand what the hell is going on.
I've got to the last boss but I can't believe people say this is Cave's easiest game, it seems pretty tough to me considering I'm playing C Strong which clearly makes it a bit easier.
Well if playing in a large studio sitting on an expensive minimalist leather chair dressed in boxers and a scarf fits that description I guess maybe
I'm going to switch to B ship for the litle bit more speed, I'd like to play A like I do in the rest of the series but it's so much easier to eat all the bullets while hypering with the other two.

That's because people call it easy after they have cleared it while getting hit 30 times in the process.

Same here, seems to happen most often with type B for me, chain just cuts for no reason. There's obviously something I'm missing. Loving it though, despite having the horrible habit of getting too excited as I'm about to finish a boss with a decent chain, running into something and loosing the lot.

No, it's because people who call it easy are used to the genre and able to 1CC multiple other Cave games. If you're new or unexperienced in this, DFK will be as tough as any other shmup.
I think that's the thing, I'm not really new to the genre and I've 1CCd a few of the easier Cave games, and from the way I've seen people talk about it I thought it would be something you can play a little then get the clear without thinking about it too hard. But actually it seems to require you construct a much stricter pattern than in any game I've cleared before (obvious example of this being the laser wheel shit in stage 5) and I think it will take time before I can do it without luck being the main factor.
But for people who are experienced at making consistent patterns it probably is pretty easy to do it, even now I can see that once I figure out a way to do the bits I have trouble with I will probably be able to do them quite easily and very consistently.

The point I was trying to make was more like it's silly to say it's easy if you got hit 30 times. The pure difficulty of the patterns in DFK is well in line with the usual Cave standard.
Just wanted to say I love DFK and I think it's good other people are finally getting a chance to play it.
It took me a while to get a clear. I was playing Type B Bomb and Type B Strong routinely, but then gave Type C Strong a chance and got the 1CC with lives to spare.
I put a lot of work into DFK, it certainly didn't come easy. I'm still working on Black Label with Type B Bomb. I've 1CC'd a few other Cave games and this was far harder.
Pattern difficulty aside it's definitely easy to C-Strong your way to a 1CC just to say you did, especially compared to other Cave games. The game only really presents a challenge to survival in the final stage, and after a bit of focused play you should be able to sort it enough to squeak through with all those bombs.
Nobody said that the patterns themselves were easy, and nobody said that playing for score was easy. The fact stands, however, that simply getting a 1CC out of the game is not very difficult. This is along the same lines that it is fairly easy to 1CC Death Smiles as long as you don't activate death mode, and it's easy to clear the Normal course in Batrider.
I'm no expert with this game, I've only put a handful of credits through it to date. On my second or third credit I believe I reached the final boss. Reaching the boss that quickly in a game that isn't Galuda, I'm sure I'll be able to beat it without a great deal of effort. I'm looking forward to working on Power mode and seeing what this game really has to offer once my copy arrives.
1CC ListTo miss is human; to rank control, divine.

Believe me, laser wheel in stage 5 can suck a lot of bombs even from people are used to the genre and able to 1CC multiple other Cave games.
And DFK have 2 loops.
