I'm kind of waiting to see if they include any cool arrange modes that change up the gameplay.
I don't recall really loving Under Defeat, as it felt like a lamer Zero Gunner 2 to me, but I'm still interested if it's the full package.

They already said they're including a 16:9 mode, which will have to change up things because the default game simply isn't designed for such a wide viewing area.

Assuming the disc is locked to NTSC Region 2, then yes (your J360 is a Region 2 DVD player). If it's NTSC Region 0 then it'll run in pretty much anything.

With the news that Deathsmiles IIX went well for Cave/MS, I think that would be pretty likely. Either that or they might have found someone to license it.
I'm really excited for this! Packaged release with DVD & Soundtrack. It doesn't come much better than that. ...though the fact that a superplay DVD is included kind of makes me hope they're also including leaderboards with downloadable replays.

Is it up for preorder anywhere yet?
Really? I mean, I'm excited for a new port of UD... but not THAT excited. I'd rather have a nice stick for all the Cave stuff and Raiden Fighters than for Under Defeat. Its not really in depth or anything, just a nice (blow stuff up) shooter.

You misunderstand, the Q4RAF is good on both PS3 and 360 Currently they're in a 360 only stick.

Like I said, this could very well be related to the success Cave and MS have seen with the GoD release of Deathsmiles IIX. This could end up being better for almost everyone, since it would make future 360 shooters more accessible to those outside of Japan. They'd just need to set a good price for them.
Wishful thinking. We'd have seen at least one more import GoD title by now. Microsoft is just getting bitchy because their customers are smarter and more savvy than they'd like. This is the company of Bill Gates, after all--a man who envisioned the internet as a recipe book.
I would have considered getting it with region free, but since I won't be able to play it, I'll have to pass. Still, Under Defeat is one I wasn't really all that interested in, so maybe I would have passed on it anyway.
If they do a Border Down port sometime, I definitely will be hoping for XBLA as we wouldn't have to deal with this region lock BS. It's not like companies generally even bother to localize these games.
Yeah, I already have a burned Dreamcast disc, so I'm not bummed about this one game, but knowing with absolute certainty that I'll be locked out of any future Japanese 360 games is distressing.

I don't think they'll be anything worth talking about as far as shooter releases go. I think that cave have released all they are going to and ports of old games like this (whist better than nothing) aren't essential purchases when they can be played elsewhere for far less.
To go "full-Plank" - colloquial - To experience disproportionate levels of frustration as a result of resistance to completing a task. Those who go "full-Plank" very rarely recover.
Capcom are already quite fond of XBLA though, it seems, so I don't think it's unlikely.
Of course, I'd much rather see Kuro on XBLA, but I guess I'm biased since I already got myself a Progear.
However, I always believed that Shmups will make it on the PS3 eventually, and thus I bought the Amazon jp exclusiv リアルアーケードPro.V3 SE 「ブラック×グリーン」, FULL SEIMITSU, for PS3
I am ready, but this Stick is now sold out, and I guess theres some demand for a Seimitsu Stick for PS3, Hori to the rescue!

Unless you are playing Under Defeat for free, there is no way to play it for far less. The DC version goes for more used than this will new. This would apply to quite a few games, especially pcb-only shmups.

Sadly, that means an end to disc-releases for people without Japanese consoles. Still a sub-optimal situation.
