I would like to get an "in between", to keep my systems aspect ratio correct, despite what my 16:10 monitor wants it to do.
I have a Xbox 360, that when I set the resolution to 480, the screen goes 4:3. When I set it to "widescreen", it doesn't work. It just stretches the image vertically.
Also, this sucks, because even if I don't mind it being at 4:3...it really isn't at 4:3, because the image is stretched to my 16:10 monitor. I can fix this problem, with the second to last resolution, in the settings, but I cannot set the system to 480, and have a correct aspect ratio, nor can it be widescreen. The reason I would LIKE to have my system set to 480, on occasion, is due to the fact that the scan lines that my SLG3000 uses in 480, are much fatter, and more noticable(perfect for games like Guardian Heroes, on Original Graphics mode).
Of course, the PS3 doesn't even have the option to get the correct aspect ratio, so I'd like something for this also.
Anything out there, with little or no latency?

Does your monitor have an aspect ratio correction?evil_ash_xero wrote:I would like to get an "in between", to keep my systems aspect ratio correct, despite what my 16:10 monitor wants it to do.

If it does, I haven't seen it.
It's an LG Flatron L227WTG

I have an LG widescreen monitor, and the only time I can monkey with any zooming/geometry options is if I'm using the analog (VGA) input. If I use the digital (DVI) input, it won't let me touch them at all.evil_ash_xero wrote:If it does, I haven't seen it.

Re: Maintaining Aspect Ratio in 16:10?
I've actually got it showing in widescreen now.
I can actually set the screen for 16:9, but that's only in Windows. The LG will still stretch any image to fit the entire screen.
Isn't there some kind of in between? It seems like there'd be a simple solution.
And what is "EZ Zooming" anyway? I push it, but it does nothing.

For the 360, I'm using VGA. Analog.

Re: Maintaining Aspect Ratio in 16:10?
See if there's an option in the monitor settings for handling 4:3 input, on mine it's "4:3 IN WIDE" and the choices are "Yes" and "No" -- i believe "No" will maintain the original aspect ratio and not stretch it.
I haven't used it for quite a while, but I had an old old notebook that did not support widescreen resolutions, and I had to set that option to avoid stretching it's 1280x1024 output.

That does work...unfortunately, the games I'm primarily using this for(Guardian Heroes, RE4, Radiant Silvergun), are in wide screen. So, they're TINY.
Oh well. Thanks for the help. I can fiddle with DeathSmiles and other shmups, like that now.

I'm afraid if your monitor doesn't have the option to change the way it handles aspect ratios, you're pretty much SOL if you insist on feeding it something other than its native resolution. Support for what you want to do is going to vary from monitor to monitor. You're better off actually getting a 4:3 monitor if you're dead set on using that SLG3000 at 480p.
