Xexex PS2 out yet?

Post by Dylan1CC »

Well is it? I just checked both PA and NCS and can't find it in their database. I know I saw a listing for it on an import site once a month or so ago. :?

They're still claiming it's coming out in two weeks, but I'm skeptical. Hamster's Oretachi site still made no mention of it last I checked (yesterday or the day before, I forget when exactly.)

Hamster is one of the biggest, if the not the biggest, publishers of reprints and budget titles in Japan.

Yeah, I'm *very* skeptical this is coming. NCSX *still* makes no mention of it and there's no info on Hamster's site about it.

Bummer, might be a major mistake on PA or someone's part. :(

Bar, that's not true. I pre-ordered it from NCSX. You have to go into their old shop and go to PS2 preorder product. I have it pre-ordered and they have it listed for August 25.

NCS doesn't have a date (anymore) though.
It says "Preorders for the Japanese PS2 import Oretachi Game Center Vol. 7: Xexex ship automatically on TBA, 2005."

I just checked Hamster's website again, and it says they're on summer vacation from Aug 13-21, and all correspondance will be answered thereafter.

D'oh!

Anyway, I'll let you know as soon as I hear something.

It will surprise no one to learn PA now also has the date listed as "TBA".

Okay, I finally heard back from Hamster:

The game's not coming out.

According to them the next set of "Oretachi Geesen Zoku" games will be "Yie Ar Kung Fu", "Burgertime", "Super Volleyball" and "Terracresta".

They said "Xexex" is not currently set for release, but they will "henceforth make an effort to make it part of their lineup".

That sucks! It saves me a little bit of money for the time being, I suppose.

I'm not surprised at all, but still...

Man, that was the only title out of that lineup that I was interested in. $25 for Burgertime? Ummm...no.

ugh. This is a bummer. Xexex hasn't had a full home port before. At least it isn't completely cancelled. Terra Cresta could use another port. Yie Air Kung Fu has an excellent GBA port that can be found in a collection for pretty cheap. Burgertime has plenty of ports, though not many recent ones. Is Super Volleyball that side view volleyball game that was ported to SNES?

Dunno about SNES, but it is side-view, and was originally a game for Neo Geo. Really fun game, actually.

Damn, that's a shame. I wonder how Play-Asia got it wrong. I preordered with them as soon as they started accepting pre-orders.

I found out that the game I was thinking of was Hyper V-Ball, which is actually the US version of Super Volleyball 2. The original wasn't ported to SNES, though it was ported to Genesis and TG-16.
