While the concept is silly, I think they actually look pretty cool, aesthetically speaking.

My co-worker who is Air Force ROTC claims that glasses like these reduce the amount of blue light hitting your eyes, which makes sitting at a monitor more comfortable. Don't know how much bullshit there is to these things, but I'm sure an effect like reducing eye strain would certainly be practical.

I do hate how random crap is being marketed to "gamers" but wasn't there a phase like this around the time the NES came out, as well as with Pac-Man?
Why is it called the Vic Viper/Warp Rattler? Because the Options trail behind it in a serpent-like fashion, and the iconic front fins are designed to invoke the image of a snake's fangs.

So are these things like artificial color blind glasses then? You focus better because that pesky color gets in the way?

I forgot to make fun of gaming razors.

I imagine there is some wonderful "science" about it reducing light from the invisible color spectrum or something like that.

I didn't believe this was real until I Googled it. Part of me died a little.

In before product place in a future game, or game-specific edition.

Seriously... who'd want to rock the Bono-level douchebag look when playing online but with no one around?

There is a little bit of science to it. I have chronic migraines due in part to photosensitivity. At my neuro's suggestion I got migraine filters applied to my lenses. They filter out certain frequencies of light statistically shown to be more associated with photosensitivity than others. The result is a darkish green tint, although it's different depending on where you get them. They don't actually know why certain wavelengths impact more than others. I doubt the statistical variance is very significant either. In any case, they vastly improved my quality of life, even though the science behind them is still somewhat sketchy.

I imagine "gaming glasses" are made on similar terms.

I know you're joking, but I would totally buy blue gatorade with "Potion of Mana" as the label.

Sadly, the mana potions are jitter-inducing, sleep-depriving shots of caffeine and guarana. Good for those all-night WoW raids, I guess.

It was disappointing when they made those Final Fantasy XII and XIII sodas labeled "Potion," and they were just in standard coke bottles.

From the one time I was able to try it, Gamer Grub is actually not bad! They're similar to Combos. You have to commend their foresight with the mouth-pourable ziploc seal, since I am not a fan of crumbs and oil ending up on my controllers.

Can we nominate Alienware PCs as the most scammy "H4RDK0R3 G4M3R" products?

There was a gamer-specific variety of Mountain Dew a while ago. I think the only difference was the color and that it had Master Chief on the bottle.

I think what really happened is that the notion of Stereotypical Gamer shifted from nerds with pocket protectors to e-sports douchebags.

Overpriced, but useful. Something which can't be said of gaming glasses, or well, most of this stuff really.

I've had a lot of third party accessories in my time and I can confirm the mass majority of them are trash. Some substitutes work well when the source material is bad (ie. Fightpad in place of 360 controller), others will have fundamentally inadequate design, like deadzone issues on many of those third party PS3 controllers. It's really hit or miss. Most of the time, it's hard for people to even bother adjusting to something that isn't the norm.

Speaking of, I'm still trying to adjust to the PS3 controller, even though the analogue sticks now rotate 360 degrees. If they made a proper 360 controller for PS3 without deadzone issues, I'd just use that. Still waiting.

yeah TBH thats cheap for a bag like that. us DJs get raped when it comes to buying soft bags with padding for our equipment.
My only problem with that bag is the big fucking madcatz logo on it. i bought your stick and your bag and now you want me to advertise your shirt too? Sorry your not nike or adidas it was this time 4 years ago you were all about pushing your garbage pads which died in hours of play.
