Rocky Memphis & The Temple Of Ophuxoff:C64 Style platformer

Post by captain ahar »

Hiya all, just wondering if anyone heard of / played Rocky Memphis And The Temple Of Ofuxoff. I just completed it the first time. Even with infinite lives, I was beating my head against a table towards the end.

But still great fun in all. :D Satisfies my sense of nostalgia indeed.

Check it out! http://rocky.ovine.net/

It has 600 unique rooms, and 4000 treasures to collect! Seriously.

Plays pretty well. Music's great. The win condition, though, is pretty daunting. Can't say I relish the task of hunting down every last item.

i looooovvveeeee the music. and yeah, the win condition is pretty crazy. i probably only beat it do to momentum (and thus losing track of time).

there are various items that soften the blow a bit. thoughtful use of the "magnet power" (attracts all treasures on screen) can help tremendously with the backtracking.

Oh, phux off!

I can definitely vouch for this one's quality. Due to the Indiana Jones theme, I went in expecting a sub-La Mulana or Spelunky kinda deal, but instead I got a quirky, imaginative, and greatly expanded entry in the canon of Jet Set Willy-likes.

Wish there were more than two music tracks, but they're definitely amazing. I haven't been able to get every item yet, though I've gotten to around 150 remaining. It's pretty disheartening coming down from the high of having multiple items at once (flight + item magnet + invincible will clear through huge swaths of rooms in a blink), though the powerups have shared timers, and grabbing one will reset the timer for all of them.

i beat it with a 99%. took like 5 1/2 hours. jesus.

i got all the treasures, but i think i might have missed a power-up or something (maybe that's counted somehow?).

reminded me a bit of la mulana. the difference being rocky is a pacifist, and i didn't feel like killing anyone after playing it.
