I've been pretty impressed with the different Creator sets they have now, none of that licensed crap just good designs. Still haven't bought any yet, I can just imagine one of those exploding on the floor when a cat knocks it off the shelf..spadgy wrote:I just bought and assembled this beauty from the excellent Lego 'Creator' range (a bit more detailed and real-word based than normal modern Lego, and uses mainly traditional and basic Lego bricks).
It was a very satisfying build, with some really techy bits inside and some awesome design touches to the mechanism inside it.
It's called Sonic Boom, and its bloody jet engines light up!

I actually bought it with the idea of trying to mod it with a few more bricks to the Raiden ship, but DOJ's read ship is a sweet idea, and might be more reasonable to try with my skills and brick supplies.kernow wrote:Reminds me of a bit of one of the DOJ ships, rad.
A big part of why I love the range! Creator is the antithesis of the cheap design of lots of that Harry Potter and Star Wars stuff.t0yrobo wrote:I've been pretty impressed with the different Creator sets they have now, none of that licensed crap just good designs.
Structurally every Creator kit I've got has been really well designed. That Jet's already had a few tough dogfights and tussles with furniture, and it's fine!t0yrobo wrote:Still haven't bought any yet, I can just imagine one of those exploding on the floor when a cat knocks it off the shelf..
I'm enjoying the juxtaposition of the anatomically impossible sexy kitsune figure and the shojo anime behind her
Nice pick-ups. De La Jet Set Radio... and an R7 Dreamcast. That's quite the setback I wager.gabe wrote:A few recent purchases:

Whoa I've never seen an "R7" Dreamcast before. The only special editions I know of are the black sports one, and the Hello Kitty ones ... what's the R7 all about?gabe wrote:A few recent purchases:

There were a lot of "limited" edition Dreamcasts in Japan. R7's seem to be a bit more rare than the Hello Kitty models, but not nearly as rare as some of the numbered DC's (Resident Evil, Seaman, Sega Direct, etc). That could be. I don't recall seeing circulation numbers for R7's or Hello Kitty DC's posted elsewhere. I'm no expert. My rarity assumption was based on casual observations of eBay prices & availability.Elixir wrote:If this thread is anything to go by, R7 had 2000 units while Hello Kitty 1500 (including both colours?)
Nice. A Lego store opened in Liverpool recently, so I may have to pick up that set. Lego has seen a resurgence in quality over the last year. After a decade of leeching off franchises, there are some good designs and imagination in the newer themes like Pharaoh's Quest and Alien Conquest.spadgy wrote:
It's even nicer when you've built it! I'm spending a lot of time holding it and grinning while I look at it. That satisfaction alone is worth the price tag (£30), and building it is even better. Treat yourself!Daigohji wrote:Nice. A Lego store opened in Liverpool recently, so I may have to pick up that set.
Exactly! I might go for a Alien Conquest set next. Some of the models in that range play homage to a now departed high profile member of the 'AFOL' ('Adult Fan of Lego'; cringeworthy term I reckon, but only as much as 'shmup'!) community, which is excellent.Daigohji wrote:After a decade of leeching off franchises, there are some good designs and imagination in the newer themes like Pharaoh's Quest and Alien Conquest.

Ya, I want a Voyager too. Thinking about picking up the RME in the next year or so, funds allowing.AKRATEN wrote:I dig synth's and play a little.jonny5 wrote:

I used to have a Rolland Juno 60 / Jsq 60 in the 90's.
Currently I only have a micro Korg , echoplex and a box full of pedals left.
I would like to pick up a Nord Lead or a Moog Voyager at some point.
