Raiden III out for ps3 this week

Looks like its a straight port of the PS2 version, not an HD re-release. Still I've heard some good things about it, not sure what the consensus here is though. Between this and Under defeat looks like the PS3 shmup library is doubling in the coming months hehe.

how do these ps2 classics or whatever they call them fare in the input lag department does anyone know? and the region locking department(am assuming they will be like any other psn game and be region free)?

Yeah man! I've never heard of "Raided III" before so I'll definitely contribute. Pirates on ships, right?

Actually jokes aside I should look at the scores I did for this game with the PC port. I don't recall getting very far before I ragequit and found something else to play.

The only one I've tried is Odin Sphere, but I couldn't see any significant input lag. As far as I understand these PS2 games are recompiled for the PS3 rather than emulated (which wouldn't work on non backward-compatible PS3s anyway.)

I have the PS2 release and a pc release in japanese and I dig it quiet a bit. It had a lot different feel compared to Raiden IV. I love how the scene speeds change and how at times the field is getting rip up by forces out of your control. All that, and I (the one guy) do prefer proton (green) over plasma (purple) lazer. It you don't have it, get it. What's it, 8 bucks?

Do check this out if you haven't tried Raiden III yet. Great game if you're arsed to beat stage 3 and try the latter stages. Similarly for Raiden IV. Both stage 3's are quite fun though. Go Sato has some sick tracks in this even if they're not all akin to his melodic style of Raiden 2 songs. They get you pumped.

Play it double play and Raiden III reveals itself as a beauty. I swear that's how it's meant to be played.

Don't know about double play, but the co-op is tons of fun.
