Then that was quite a coincidence that you all decided to play Dragon Blaze in the same week.

Well, whatever the reason, it was nice to see all you guys play. I hope some of you decide to stick with DB a little bit longer.

It's a mystery!

I probably won't be continuing with the game though since I really don't like the scoring system that much.

Aww, didn't see that thread.

What is it you don't like about the scoring system? I think it gets a little too reliant on milking sometimes, but it's generally pretty lenient.

The best scoring system are not lenient!

I just dislike having to use the dragon shot for everything. I like Psikyo games best when they are very simple and it doesn't work when you have to actively score all the time.

Dragon Blaze is pretty much like every good Psikyo game ever, dragon shot just makes it more obvious that you need to be aggressive since it makes gold coins pop up :)

Aww, you just wanted to see me humbled? Well, I'm having fun as long as there are good players to challenge me, so I'm ok with how it turned out too. Not to be arrogant or anything, but I love how I actually feel competent for once.

Just made it to the final form of the final boss on a single credit for the first time... last life... one bomb left... I'm playing Ian... and I launch the bomb on the left side of the screen just before the brain goes over there... and I miss the placement by a couple of pixels and die XD. I'll hopefully be posting my 1-ALL score here soon. Had about 970,000 when I died but I didn't save it because I impulsively press the reset button if I die before the clear.

Nice, keep going! Final boss is much more doable than the Stage 6 boss, since there's no insane tech pattern and most forms go down quick. The hardest pattern is the first - I bomb there so I can kill it before it does the nasty slowdowntastic attack.

I managed 1.36m in a savestate recently, and that was even with lots of errors. It's struck me that a huge part of survival is not dying early on so you have enough resources to bombspam 1-7 and 2-1. Obvious, I know, but jesus christ this game has gradius syndrome. I'll need to become more consistent before I can think of taking on ZZ's score.

Yeah I haven't even attempted the 1-5 and on tech bonuses yet. I can consistently beat the 1-5 boss and the final boss's second form without bombing so that's helpful. You're right about 1-6... uh-uh. And the second loop! So much to look forward too haha. 1.36m is pretty awesome.

When you bomb with ian, if you dont move to the left or right, the bomb protect you.
When im boring im play a little with Ian because he have a good offensive strategy: when you hit a boss whit a dragon atack, wait a second dont call it back fast, use the charged shot and hold it when you are calling back your dragon, when dragon is back do it again. You can kill bosses with 2 dragon atacks doing it, is very funny.

Yeah, and damaging bosses with a dragonshot recharges the gauge, so you can just spam your special endlessly. It's hilarious, I agree. However, it requires getting close, and on 1-6 or later that's a no-no.

Oh gratz. Welcome to the competition. Im working on 2_2 stage but it rape me.

Ganson: when you come here again, can you make separate scoreboards for each characthers? At the same level competiton sonia and rob cant compete vs ian or quaid (i think quaid is broken), because the dragon return is too slow on sonia and rob.

This might have been a savestate run. I doubt it, but I did load up 1-3 and might have kept going, so yeah. I can do much better anyways. Tomorrow I'll rebind save and load state so I can't use them, which will solve the problem.

Score was 1,389,000.

why am i playing this game right now :|

Azinth // 998,400 // Ian // 2-1

Screwed up the double coin chest trick in 1-7, so no 1m for me ;_;

I'll definitely improve this score sometime. And by sometime I mean probably not till late next year or so.

Image This one was def. legitimate. Still sucked tho.

RNGmaster - 1336100 - Quaid - 2-1

"Highlights":
Forgetting to move on the 1-6 boss first form
Being excited that I had 2 lives coming in to 2-1 and proceeding to bombspam everything
Clipping the tech pattern on 2-1 (This was actually frustrating).

Now if this is a poor run, imagine what score I'd get on a good day!

Double post but trust me it's worth it.

Welp. Died on 1-7 boss first form, failed 2-1 tech due to enemies being wankers, and died to a backshot suicide bullet on 2-2. I'm happy. This one was for sure legit, which is nice.

RNGmaster - 1,521,100 - Quaid - 2-2

NOW WHAT BANANA also ZengarZombolt

Here's an inp for a run that gets a similar score.

When I said I'd beat ZZ's score you were all like "yeah right" and I did.

But he's probably going to beat me in like 1 day so I might as well enjoy second place while I have it.

Badass score, especially considering the stage - looks like you've optimized the first loop pretty well.

Hardly. 750k going into 1-5 is nice, but I could get more from bomb milking, and 1-6 on was a disaster. Missed out on max bomb bonus and didn't do the 2 chest trick. 1.45 is the max for me I think. Always more room for optimization unless you're SYO :P

Thanks though. More survival in the loop would be doable if I could get off my ass and no-miss the first loop.

Don't feel too bad, no-missing a Psikyo first loop is a pretty tough challenge in and of itself. I still can't do it with S99 and GB2 nearly as much as I'd like.

Great progress, keep going. How's practice on the second loop coming along?

2-2 boss alone took me 2 hours. It's going slow. 2-3 as Desert is hell and will take forever - 2-4 and 5 look much easier. All superplays I've seen bomb the hell out of 2-3 :V
