Best arcade stick for 360?

Post by bombman »

Sorry if this is a repeat thread, but could anyone recommend the top quality stick for 360? Anything close to Virtua Stick Pro on Saturn or similar arcade feel?

Going to shoot the core for this question: Ex-se is the best stock stick for shmups (and most other arcade orientated games). If you desire to have a virtua stick pro/HSS-130 setup then get two ex-se. Honestly, by the time you modded/built/upgraded/wasted time on obtaining a practical and satisfactory solution, it will not be as elegant as having 2 well proven sticks.

The best arcade stick for the 360 is really anything that has proper arcade components (Sanwa or Seimitsu), good button and stick placement, is easy to modify, has a nice amount of weight and a large sturdy base. Luckily most high end sticks today meet all of the above criteria. If you are going to want to primarily play shooters I would recommend a Seimitsu stick, but even if you get a TE or Hori with a Sanwa stick they will be easy to replace. (The Sanwa JLF in the TE and Hori's is great for fighters and I know some people who prefer it for STGs.)

Given that there are so many high quality sticks on the market currently I would go for whatever looks the nicest to you and meets your price range. If you end up wishing you had Sanwa instead of Seimitsu or vice versa you should be able to easily change between the two without much pain.

I own both a MvC2 TE (Originally all Sanwa parts, I replaced the stick with a ls-32-01), and a Hori EX-SE (All Seimitsu parts), they are great sticks and both have seen a good deal of STG play. I honestly cannot say that I prefer one over the other, so if I were you I would get whatever is the cheapest currently. (That is only if you like the look of the sticks equally of course.)

I can attest to the TE being extremely simple to modify, but I have not tried it with the EX-SE so I cannot say how simple or complicated it is.
