- 3B: Red (97k pts), then finishing with 2x Secret at the section with all the laser gunners before the boss
- 3E: Red (90k pts) then finishing with 4x Secret (tricky to do, requires Hyper Sword)
- 4A: 2x Secret to Red (4x 100k pts) - very high scoring, total chain worth over 2mil
- 4C: Blue (4x 100k pts) - worth more than Red, but trickier to do
- 4E: Red (around 12x 100k pts) - second most high scoring stage
- 5A: Red - total available score is between 10-12mil for this stage alone, the stage is very long, and must be perfect and no-missed
Is it really possible to 1CC Radiant SilverGun?

There are a few key stages where you can really ramp up your score and your weapon power, but they need to be perfectly chained. In order (Arcade Mode Stage 4 Route):
The game lasts an hour from start to finish in Arcade Mode, about an hour and a half in Saturn Mode with the extra bosses and complete play through (Ohtrigen is one of the best bosses in any game, ever), so you'll be sat there for a good long while.

Nah, thats not my style. After all, Psikyo added in "Monkey" difficulty, but I sure as hell ain't going to play it like that!Acid King wrote:Not really, considering Treasure developed it and put it there for a reason... it's not a hidden cheat, it's a developer created game mode...TWITCHDOCTOR wrote:
I also dislike "Saturn Mode", because it allows you to slowly build up weapon power and save it. See, this goes against my "arcade rules".
Its like using "Save States" or something else real cheap. (Konami code, etc)
Normal default or arcade style for me...all except for Battle Garegga anyway's.

Heh, that's personally my favorite aspect of the game: no other shmup I've played has ever given me as much of a feeling of "you've gotta be freakin' kidding me..." with some of the stuff it throws at you and demands you handle. Yeah, the presentation's nice, and all the weapons and whatnot are cool too, but it's the <strongbad>HOLY CRAP!</strongbad> factor that really defines the game, as far as I'm concerned. In any event, glad you're enjoying it a bit.TWITCHDOCTOR wrote:I kinda feel like I know "how to play" the game now, and I'm understanding the chaining aspects, but there are some parts that literally freak me out...as in "Ohh SHIT! "I hate having to chain...in fact I hate "chain shmups"... ok, I said it.
Is it at all possible to 1CC this game simply by attempting to kill everything on site(old school style). Or do you have to be anal and shoot only certain colors all the time? "
You HAVE to chain. The bosses will devour you otherwise.
"Also, is it that much more helpfull to "disect" the bosses. I usually try to kill em quick. (shoot the core/ to hell with the wings)"
Yes, it is helpful because it adds to the score which = more powerful weapons.
"I HATE the anal "chaining" style.
It would be cool if they added a "shoot the fuck outa everything as fast as you can" mode, but oh well."
Thats just the way the game is bro. I'm sorry you dislike the scoring system, but... *shrugs*
"BTW: The guy who wrote up a "guide" at Gamefaqs is totally annoying in my opinion.
He says something to the effect of, "I'm no shooter God, but I can beat SilverGun with 1 life".
FAG!!!"
Actually, you don't even have to be that good to 1CC Radiant Silvergun IMO. RS is 95% time spent/memorization and 5% skill. You won't find anybody who can pick it up and 1CC it... but the people who dedicate hundreds of hours to it typically can fairly easily.
Really, RS is a game that grows with you. At first its near impossible and frustrating, but after 10-25 hours with it you'll be beating the first two levels with your eyes closed. How well you do on the later levels really depends on:
A. How powerful your weapons are.
B. How much you've practiced them.
Personally, I find 1CCing RS or Ikaruga more of a "Good job, you had a lot of time on your hands." type deal as opposed to say... 1CCing Soukyugurentai, Battle Garegga, Metal Black, Batsugun (Normal), etc. where its like "Holy fuck, you got skills."
Edit:
And I can say the above as someone who has 1CC'd both and loves Radiant Silvergun.

Uhhm...yea. Yea, I've been pretty busy with it lately and I'm learning some good chains through the first few levels. Seems as though I prefer to chain "red" enemies. Its only later on that I get all cluster fucked with everything.
By that time my weapons are usually A=8 B= 5 C=11 or so. (I forget exactly)
What I meant by "details" where actual details on how you yourself played when you 1CC it. And please don't tell me to simply play the game for another 100 hours. There is just as much skill needed as there is memorization.
Did you play with full defaults? Arcade or Saturn mode...both? Routes taken/prefered?
Anyway's, thats more or less what I meant.

Red is good for most, if not all stages. Only certain stages require you to chain something other than Red (Secret for 3D and 4D, Blue for 4C etc).TWITCHDOCTOR wrote:Uhhm...yea. Always on full defaults.TWITCHDOCTOR wrote:Did you play with full defaults? Arcade or Saturn mode...both? Routes taken/prefered?
Arcade Mode you can select your second set of stages (either Stage 2 or Stage 4, the Stage 4 route is higher scoring but harder), while Saturn Mode does them all in the order 3, 2, 4, 5, 6, 1.
In Arcade Mode, I always take Stage 4 route (for obvious reasons).
Last time I played it, I cleared Arcade Mode with over 20mil. That was a while ago though, and it's been several years since I last played seriously. IMO Stage 5A is the most difficult in the whole game, beating Xiga is a cakewalk compared to chaining this long and difficult stage.

Also worthy of note is that stages 5 and 6 are different in Saturn mode. Stage 5 gains section 5B, which is a whole extra boss to tackle (a rather nasty one at that) and Stage 6A doesn't go straight to XIGA. Instead you get 4 bosses extra before him: W(- -)W, VARAS, BECHEW & OHTRIGEN. Basically, I'd recommend Arcade mode for your first 1CC, and attacking Saturn mode later for a much harder clear.Icarus wrote:Arcade Mode you can select your second set of stages (either Stage 2 or Stage 4, the Stage 4 route is higher scoring but harder), while Saturn Mode does them all in the order 3, 2, 4, 5, 6, 1.
Also, Stage 5A is different between Arcade and Saturn modes. A bunch of enemy formations and stuff are changed in the later half, which kinda screws with your head in runs if you've been using Saturn mode for practicing the stage, so be warned.

IIRC after a certain point your weapons in Saturn mode also level up more slowly than in Arcade mode, right? The extra stuff is there to make up for it, obviously, but that might be another thing to take into consideration.CVM wrote:Basically, I'd recommend Arcade mode for your first 1CC, and attacking Saturn mode later for a much harder clear.

Either way, SilverGun will keep anybody busy for quite a while!
I mean, you have the Arcade mode in which you can beat both routes, and then Saturn mode...which basically comes out to at least 3 different ways to go for the goal.
Arcade mode is where its at for me, as I consider Saturn mode more of a novelty. (well, when saving weapon status)

BTW: I've beaten my last high score. Its like 23.....something now.
I'm also taking route "2" instead of "4". Much easier I might add.
Still, I was in the process of developing some cool paterns, but , route 2 is easier when you think about it.

You can see here: http://benjamin.bouloch.free.fr/ben-shinobi.htm
how it is possible to make +25M. on arcade mode.
In fact, it's possible to get 27M on arcade mode. the worlds record is 27.3 millions

The person that ben.shinobi is talking about is YAMA-SAN with a score of 27,336,540.

Hoo boy, I am way, way, waaaay behind on Radiant Silvergun. The only basic chain I know is chaining one group of red, then one blue enemy then getting subsequent 10,000 point bonuses on yellow enemies. My highest score is about 1 and a half mil last I checked. Learning how to score properly in both Progear and Radiant are high on my list after I am tired of playing Mushi. Not to mention getting more used to rank in Garegga which I started to a year ago then procrastinated and started playing other games.TWITCHDOCTOR wrote:Dylan1CC wrote:Way back in the day on the old paradise web spammed boards, a member named juanjuan told me several times he had. I got the information from Gemant ZBL-FUKUDA's Gamest / Arcadia Records database.ben.shinobi wrote:Yes, you're right !
T3-Cyr-Wiz has the world record by stage 2 with 22.951.260 pts (source from the latest Arcadia Mag.)
This is what it says here, but obviously WIZ has broken MKN-YUE KINGORO's Stage 2 record.
Code: Select all
RADIANT SILVERGUN YAMA SAN STAGE 4 27.336.540 ALL AUTOFIRE Э
MKN-YUE KINGORO STAGE 2 22.860.060 ALL AUTOFIRE Э-

I see lots of speculation on the chaining in RSG in this thread.
and from my end, while you do HAVE to chain. . .you don't neccessarily have to go for the huge uber chains. I can typically survive well against most bosses with low level weapons by simple weaving and tenacity.
Sure, it's harder. . .but it's easier on the mind to not have to use exact memorization for the more hectic parts.
