Speaking of emulation, how good is emulation on other consoles like the Xbox (original) and DC?

Isnt the build quality (plus controls) on those chinese handhelds pritty shitty? But saying that it was a year or two since I last looked into it, probably newer models have released.

Around here, $200 allows you to take your pick of several arcade cabinets in need of varying amounts of TLC.

With a bit of elbow grease, you could either restore one, or build yourself a nice MAME cab.

I considered that. There was a decent looking cps1/2 cab I had my eye on. But I tend to move a lot and I'm pretty happy with my pseudo cab consisting of a tated crt moniter and usb stick plugged into my laptop.

I've heard xbox1's emulation is pretty good, since for most purposes it operates just like a PC. I've seen some emulators for DC but I don't know the state of that.

I assume you know about http://www.zophar.net - you can browse emulators by either the system emulated or the operating platform.

Good choice with the PSP. I'm guessing since you can run emulators on it, it's also capable of running ISOs :x

I don't know why you are having trouble with Japanese PS1 games. A long time ago I used some EBOOT converter thing to convert R-Type Delta (JP) and Mr.Driller G for a JP PSP-1000, but I transferred over to a NA PSP-3001 and the same files still work fine.

I don't know why anyone would bother with running emulators on a Xbox now. I can't speak from personal experience but I would suppose any emulator runs better on PC. Next time you have $200, I would suggest you put it towards new PC parts :)

If it was me, I'd either put it toward a new 360 (I've got an old model that's somehow dodged the RRoD since day 1, but the 20GB drive just isn't cutting it anymore) or I'd put it into some upgrades on my PC. Don't think either of those answers are useful, but yes, I have found that you can definitely get a reasonable arcade cab for that price if you know where to look.

I suppose it must be a firmware thing or summuch. You don't happen to remember what version you were using by any chance? The only thing I've got running is Einhander, although I haven't tried any of the more common psx games. Might try and convert my copy of Crash Bandicoot and see if anything clicks.

My PSP-3001 is on LCFW 6.39. The PS1 ISOs were converted waaaaaay back when PS1 games first appeared on PSN, I think I used Popstation, but it was ages ago so I can't remember nor can I link to any personally verified working guide. Try some other guides to see if it works again.
