If you know Bangor, there is a shop on High St called 'Replay'. Amongst other cabs, they have a Chinese Lindberg copy - thought it would be cool to ask the owner (small family run place - lots of old console/Manga etc, good vibe) if it would be possible to run a STG tourny there some weekend. Hook up an X360 or something, and hammer a load of Cave titles for £££. (Plus abundant bars/pubs around there.)

Just a thought. Well busy with work here recently, hence no STG activity (and zero 'Shmups' forum activity either)

Surprised no other Irish turned up here.

On the off-chance any Dublin hedz see this (I'm sure there are some around here somewhere), I shall be in Dr Quirky's from 12/1pm-3/4pm this Sat 26th. Not sure if they have any STG's these days, but regardless SF4 will be getting destroyed.

Oh hi man. Im originally from portstewart but ive been living down south for the last 10 years so probly wont be down your way 2 often. I live in a town called Drogheda its about 50 mins drive from dublin. Nah not a shmup cab 2 b seen in any of the arcades in dublin afaik defo not in quirkys anyways. Its a shame but i guess thats just how it is over here.... There running a game on event in the ambassador theater tho. tickets are only 10euro. I think its still running. Its a homage 2 retro gaming and theres bound 2b some shmups in there. Must head up myself actually b4 its over....Guess i seen this post 2 late tho....

Hey hombre, if I thought I could get at least 10 STG hedz together, it's definitely doable. Doubt there's 10 on the whole Emerald Isle though haha!

Pity, as I'm about to take the lease on some studio space up here - around 700sq feet in an old mill building. Toying with the idea of some dedicated STG space in there...

That retro shindig sounds interesting - any more info? I passed up on Quirkys last Sat, and hit the IMMA museum for an Irish modernism exhibition instead.

i'm from the maiden city originally, but now live in southampton. my son still lives in belfast, so i travel back quite a bit to see him. i'm back tomorrow actually for a long weekend...

Another Belfast shmupper here.

No cabs or anything like that but I do have a white Saturn (with a decent set of shmups - RSG and co.) and DC (only PAL - so Gigawing and Gunbird2, but I do have a boot disc I got with Typing of the Dead. Also got Bangai O and Cannon Spike for non-pure shmupness). Have 2 official DC arcade sticks ( + 2 Virtua Sticks for the Saturn). I've gathered up the decent PAL PS2 shmups (with 60Hz and score saves - have a 3rd party budget stick for that too).... Had a chance to get a JAMMA cabinet from a Ca$h Converters a few years ago but the timing was all wrong (was in the middle of a house renovation!)

Have also a modded SNES and Megadrive (with a nice RGB cable too) with some shmups and other odds and sods (2600 with Harmony cart, Gamecube Ikaruga NTSC and PAL versions - use a classic linker to use the Wii Capcom v Tatsunoko stick with GC)

On the look out for an old CRT as the 28" Panasonic I have is getting a bit glitchy)

Haven't got into this gen yet so no 360 yet - which seems to be the new home of shmups.

Used to call into Replay in Bangor when I had the chance but most of the retro stuff is gone now and the cabinet only ever seems to have 3D fighters installed.

Family and work pretty demanding so time is limited....skill level not much cop either....

I am in Dublin, Im pretty crap at shmups, but I DO love them :p

I'm not mad into bullet hell type stuff, but I do love Gradius, R-Type, US Navy Fighters, Ikaruga and Radiant Silvergun...

I have just moved to lancing in England however. Gonna post a thread now to see who lives around here. Hope you lot manage to get some kind of meet going
