It's opening up near uptown Minneapolis in November! Lots of old school games, check their list, but will be getting new games every month. I will happen to be in Minneapolis often starting next month so I'm going to try my best to support this place. Anyone in downtown area, be sure to drop by this place!

Nice, that's almost exactly where Phoenix Games used to be. I really hope they can make it work as a business.

I'm usually in the area every sunday, and they will have tempest, so I'll check it out.
Re: Minneapolis, MN getting a Retro Arcade!
I know this area. I doubt I can make it on weekdays, but on Saturday's and maybe Sunday (after football season), I'll try to come to this place. I've been playing classic arcade games lately, so I'll be trying to challenge for whatever high score is there. I think there should be other types of games than just classic games, though. But it looks like this place is just starting out.
I'm not sure how long this place will last, as opening an arcade these days is basically throwing money away, but as long as it is there, I will try to come.

Re: Minneapolis, MN getting a Retro Arcade!
It's always cool to hear of another retro arcade opening up in the USA. There's an indy retro arcade just about five minutes away from where I live but no arcade shmup titles though. It's called Beto's Arcade in Riverbank, CA & opened up back in May of 2010. It has an old school Atari Inc. released Arabian dedicated cab to try out amongst some of the offerings. All games take quarters indeed (and priced at 25 cents per credit). Has a really nice snack bar + pool table & air hockey setup as well. You can watch sporting events on the huge HDTV on the backside wall area.
I'd imagine if this Beto's arcade were to get in some Japanese candy cabs and some more up-to-date PCBs, then it'd be a cool arcade worth patronizing. As the ol' saying goes, a modern-day arcade has gotta have the latest 'n' greatest games is what draws in the customers. A mixture of both the latest & classic dedicated cabs + classic & the latest in pinball for the pinball wizards crowd would be the best bet.

Hmm, the website still says "Opening Mid-November". Anyone been there yet, are they actually open? I hope everything is working out ok.

They still aren't open, yet. From what I've read, they have to have the store approved by the government before any machine can even be turned on. In other words, bureaucracy.
