If you could own any Shmup Jamma PCB or arcade game which would it be?
For me it would be Sega's Thunderforce AC or Under Defeat Sega Naomi

I just sold that yesterday. Good game, but there was something about it that just didn't gel with me.Marc wrote:Having just tried it out (thanks to members of this board) and loving it on MameOX, even though the emulation is shitty at best, I'd have to say Cyvern. One day...

It has HYPER! DoDonPachi is my favorite game, so any updated version makes my sex fall out.

Radiant Silvergun, IBARA, Gigawing Generations, Night Raid.
Wouldn't really be for home use though...I'd "lend em" to the local arcade for others to play.

I thought about asking my local arcade if they wanted to borrow some Cave shmups. But I doubt they would put them in a machine. They seem to only be interested in Tekken and Dance Dance games.Skyline wrote:Radiant Silvergun, IBARA, Gigawing Generations, Night Raid.

Errg. Arcade ops are usually scumbags that are just looking to make a buck and don't care about upkeep of the machines. Plus, they'd probaly break a capacitor off one of your expensive boards due to their rough handling with PCBs. (Why do you think so many PCBs are broken, it's sure as hell not because of us collectors)

Are you sure your brains didn't "fall out", instead?!

I sold it for £143.00 inc postage.Marc wrote:How much did that go for, if you don't mind my asking?I just sold that yesterday. Good game, but there was something about it that just didn't gel with me.
Due to come into a little money soon, may be time to pick up a super gun and my first board.

A mint, unopened Guwange kit.
I would immediately sell this to the crazies with deep pockets, and buy about 10 equally good games with the money
Most coveted shmup PCB for me is Dragon Breed, closely followed by Mr Heli, both of which I have.
As for something I don't own, Forgotten Worlds. I did have the PCB, marquee, bezel, and an entire control panel, but never had a suitable cab shell to fit them to, and sold it without ever having played. Dumb. If anyone sees the entire machine for sale anywhere please let me know, I'm happy to import.

PCBs
I suppose its gotta be Scramble Spirits. Does anyone know if its available & at what price
Skyline - I have lent boards to my local arcade for others to play, so have my friends ARC and ARM. If you know the engineers well - its ok.
The other board is Sega's Sonic Boom, which I'm happy to say I bought off Malc recently. An excellent game, better than I remembered it from the London arcades when it came out
.

Best get a something with a rotatable monitor like a Taito Egret, considering that Blazing Star needs a horizontal monitor and Guwange needs a vertical monitor.Seven Force wrote:I'm still looking for a good opportunity to pick up a cheap cab, so there's many shooters I would like to have, but my top picks would have to be:
- Guwange
- Xexex
- Blazing Star (<- will probably be the first I will own, since it's cheapo MVS ^__^ )
Or you can just do what I did.......and buy two cabs.

Hail Atlantis!
FYI, I have Thundercross 2 for saleBloodreign wrote:5) Thundercross 1 and 2 Konami's great double whammy, wish they'd make a part 3.

Personally, I have the PCBs that I'd want to own and play (Brave Blade, XEXEX JPN, Ibara, among others), although I wouldn't mind a complete minty condish R-Type cabinet. That's the board, the cab, all the decorative artwork, the works

For my personal use (and realistically attainable collection), it would be..
Ketsui
Progear
ESP RaDe
Radiant Silvergun
Ikaruga
R-Type Leo
And I'll throw in Hellfire for the old-school, and Neo DriftOut for kicks.
For an absolute dream, I'd get Beatmania IIDX Red, Guitar Freaks V and DrumMania V. Wow!

Re: PCBs
I second that; I've been looking for that one for years too. From what I've read the PCB uses some kind of disk drive to load up levels. Wonder if the disks themself haven't lost all their data; the game was made in the late 80s. Beside Scramble spirit; I'd love to get a hold off "Cliffhanger - Edward randy".DEL wrote:I suppose its gotta be Scramble Spirits. Does anyone know if its available & at what price![]()
