What other HD or PSP Remasters do you think we'll get?

For the PSP, what else do you think is an option? The GOWs, and Peace Walker were the best choices. I would like to see Goku Makaimura Kai, but there's no way in hell of that happening. What other big releases are possible? I can't really think of (m)any, honestly.

As for the HD treatment, I know Konami is doing Silent Hill(with fudged up dubbing).......but what else? I certainly hope Konami are more capable, than Capcom, at putting their old games in HD. I was wanting Okami....well, not now. I'll just stick with the old one.

What does your crystal ball say?

Eh, we'll probably get a Jak and Daxter one, when I think about it.....

Most of the titles will come from 1st/2nd party Sony studios. The 3rd parties will only do titles which got a PS2 version.

I think that Car combat game would work well for it. I can't remember the name of it. I remember it having a black cover on PS2. They could enhance it for online etc.

I'd love to see Valkyria Chronicles 3 get a PS3 remaster, along with the two Yakuza Black Panther games. At least that way they'd have a chance of getting released in the west. But since that's probably not going to happen, the only other games that seem likely are Square-Enix's. Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy Agito (or whatever it's called now) in particular.

As far as HD re-releases go, a Devil May Cry set seems likely.

Actually Ōkami rendered in high resolutions would look ace and same goes for the rest of cel-shaded games (provided they looked good to begin with). Porting Gregory Horror Show is also a good idea. That said, Ōkami is almost guaranteed to have all issues of the Wii port, thus you'd be better off playing either version emulated in high resolution instead.
I'm sure ZoE collection will be another straight port, but these games should look good left with their original assets. Anubis is prominently cel-shaded too.

Twisted Metal: Black already had an online edition (released as a separete disc) back in 2001. It's a fun game, but looks ugly even on a CRT. High resolution won't help much in this case.
If Sony asked me, I'd suggest porting Sky Odyssey, Futari no Fantavision and ChainDive, but they don't.

As far as HD re-releases go, a Devil May Cry set seems likely.

I'm sure they won't look any better than PC ports on DMC3 and Onimusha 3.

There's a new Twisted Metal coming out, so I can't see them releasing the old one now.

I wouldn't mind HD collections of Jak & Daxter and PS2 Ratchet & Clank, and I could see those two actually happening at some point. Still haven't played either series (even though I own most of them). Was the same with the Sly Cooper games for me and the HD collection fit the spot nicely.

Valkyria Chronicles 2 & 3 would be amazing, but since it's a sound business decision and it's Sega, the odds of it happening are extremely slim.

Ys: The Oath in Felghana, Ys: The Ark of Naphishtim: A straight port of the PC versions with maxed settings would be fine.
Ys Seven
Ys Celceta (the upcoming PSV remake of Ys IV)
Crisis Zone: A combo pack of the arcade and PS2 versions. Remove the flashing effects from the PS2 one and restore the missing red dot scope.
Star Soldier PSP
Darius Burst: Kick the graphics up to DBAC level or higher.
Gradius V
Raiden Project+DX: Raiden Project and Raiden DX in one compilation, similar to Raiden Fighters Aces on X360. Maybe even throw in Raiden III & IV as bonuses.

Well, there's one's I'd like, but I was really wondering what you think we'll get.

There's always the possibility of some shmup remakes on XBLA or PSN. Since RayStorm got one(and was butchered), maybe Sqeenix could re-do G-Darius or Einhander. I think Einhander is a real possibility, considering it's notoriety. G-Darius is less likely, but I would be so psyched if it did come out.

Valkyria Chronicles 2 and 3? No way. They won't even put 3 out over here. And that's a shame, considering 2 had so many problems, and 3 was more of a return to form.

Is there any chance of Dragon Quest VIII coming out? It's massively popular in Japan, so there'd be demand, but it's SO big. They may not have the resources to do it.

I'm expecting a lot of Western franchises(since we got the big $$), that I don't care about, to be released. The aforementioned Jak collection, or whatever, and stuff like that. Twisted Metal, and all that. Sony games, Western titles. There really isn't a lot of Japanese Sony games are there? Seems there used to be a lot more.

I'm REALLY curious how Kojima studios will handle their remasters. They're pretty meticulous, so I'm hoping well. I guess we'll know in November. It'll be a heartbreaker, if Peace Walker doesn't turn out really well. I mean, that is a great game.

But as I scan my mind, I can't think of a lot of games.....but I keep getting surprised. Virtual On? Who saw that coming? Hmmm...Virtual On...Rez...PLEASE bring out Orta!

RE4 looks like arse because it shows you particular kind of textures with particular kind of camera. Porting that game without retexturing and remodelling was an ill-fated endeavour from the start. Technically the first GoW trilogy is no better (same models, same textures), but looks better because it was crafted with cpecific camera angles in mind (thus the most blocky models and poorest textures are always viewed from afar). Silent Hill 2-3-4 on the PC look decent in high resolutions because they use arbitrary camera as well (and Henry's apartment in 4 looks poor because you get to see them textures in FPP mode).
Ōkami is textured in a different style that would get along with high resolutions better.
Just look at Ys: The Oath in Felghana on the PC - it's a mix of polygons and sprites not quite unlike Ōkami, with some elaborate post-processing effects and shading on polygonal bosses, and it looks good in very high resolutions as well as in 640x480. I believe Ōkami would be just as scalable (I'd take a "lazy" port of the PS2 version over the Wii version any day). To me it doesn't need any tinkering with as long as I have my PS2 and my CRT with a SCART socket, but people who got rid of their CRTs could use a port.

Well, there you go. I wouldn't doubt we get a Ratchet And Clank either.

Gradius V would make me cry in delight. But I doubt we'll get it. You never know with the XBLA and PSN...strange things happen on there.

Question: Do the Japanese just not have the resources to make many HD remakes? Konami is doing PW(and I think ZOE), but it seems like everything else is outsourced(ICO, SOTC, MGS2, MGS3), or done poorly(Capcom). Of course, the shorter games, released on XBLA and PSN are exceptions. But those are short.
I haven't seen a BIG last gen game, actually remastered in HD, by the Japanese themselves yet. Unless I missed something.

They seem to be really struggling with the HD business.

Also starting tomorrow as part of Only On PSN, we’ll also be offering a selection of rare classic games in the PlayStation Store: God Hand, GrimGrimoire, Maximo: Ghosts to Glory, Odin Sphere and Ring of Red.

Note the games are PS2 versions in DLC form.

I heard Space Channel pt2 and the PS1 Chrono Trigger is coming out as well.

Would be great if the DMC collection had leaderboards, but I'm sure Capcom will be as lazy about it as possible. I hope they at least have some good achievements, like DMC4 (to an extent).

It looks like I should have mentioned Gradius V HD in here instead of the thread in shmups chat. Hopefully Treasure can get to work on it now they have finished with Guardian Heroes.

Im looking forward to ZOE HD plus the newly announced Devil May Cry (1,2 & 3) HD remake. (im intrested how these games compare to Bayonetta)

I personally wouldnt mind a Shinobi Ps2 HD remake (which will probably never happen)

I wonder if Nintendo are gonna jump on the HD bandwagon on the WiiU, Until recently ive always ignored their hardware so I havnt played most of their games. Ild love to play their N64 & GC games in HD

EDIT Ive been thinking of picking up Resident Evil 4 but have yet to decide the version to plum for 360,PC or Wii
