Anyone up to some translating, where do the developers come from that sort of thing ?

Just got my copy today, and played for an hour or two. First impressions definitely weren't impressed with the presentation (then again, no one had made me very expectant, heh heh), but bullet visibility was very good, so I can put up with it. The system does seem to give you a good amount of freedom when it comes to letting you play for survival or score, which is nice to help you get into it, and each of the 3 modes offers something a little different...I was pleasantly surprised to see separate score tables for individual difficulties too. Trying to score, oddly enough (well, not really, I suppose) reminded me of Shienryu Explosion, in that the basic idea wasn't all that complicated, but there were a couple of things to keep track of at once and strike a balance between...overall good. The main "thing" for me right now is getting the hang of tossing enemies...right now it seems that if I can start swinging an enemy the moment I capture it I can get some momentum going, but if I hesitate or wait the thing becomes dead weight (and always seems to end up behind me, grr). Practice mode is rather average, options are decent, load times are not a problem, and slowdown's not much of an issue...until Arrange mode. Then again, with the extra bullets to dodge I can't complain too much.
Overall, seems to fall in the same basic "tier" as the past few DC shmups I've gotten ahold of: good, but not great. I'd definitely like to get a bit more clued in as to some of the details of the scoring system...anyone up for creating an ST?

Alright, just 1CC'd the game so here's me thoughts:
I love it. I think its one of the better games on the DC honestly. The bullet patterns are just fun. I don't feel that there are any cheap deaths. And I love the multi-teared boss fights hinging on the amount of medals you have. Definitely adds a lot more depth to the game.
I'd say my favorite boss fight is the level 4 boss. Very very cool bullet patterns. I also love the Xiga-ish bullet pattern the level 2 boss throws out for its... second form? third? Not sure.
And Stage 5 was a complete blast. Its just so... relaxing for a final level. Especially the midbosses. Both of them are just fun as hell. Final boss was cool too...
One thing that does bother me is how easy it seemingly is to abuse the scoring system. I hear (haven't seen the vids yet, no internet at home) that there are players that can get 220mil+ in the first level alone. I dunno, I just don't think Warashi intended for it to be that way given the way extends work. But c'est la vie.
At any rate, I love the game. Its not really pretty, but its damn fun with a very indepth scoring system and really cool boss fights. And I LOVE the music in Stage 5.

I have a small technical question for owners of THE..
Anyone else here noticed when playing that occasionally the display seems to "loose sync" slighly so that when for instance the "panning up the screen" bit happens before the first boss apears on screen a similar thing to the vsync issue on some PC games seems to take place for a moment. This also happens infrequently elseware to mostly dureing the small panning "cutscenes" and every so often on the game over and press start screen.
Its nothing serious i guess and i think i have seen the glitch in some gameplay videos but just want to be sure that its not a problem with my specific setup.

Hmm, I haven't noticed that yet. That sort of stuff usually throws me off, so I'll look next time. I'm not playing on VGA so perhaps it's just less noticible here. It'd be hard to tell afaik with a video player since most movie playback on computers is so wacky.
Humans, think about what you have done

.
i got the game in the mail yesterday. im having a really hard time getting the spin down. i have anchor mapped to X since you need to press and hold fire while anchored to spin. what techniques are you guys using to get the spin down? sometimes ill get the spin going fast as shit, then it slows to a crawl
I mapped it to R, but yeah, definitely better than one of the face buttons. It's less confusing when you're trying to let go of one of them to suck medals or drop your ship. When I had it on the default settings, I'd quite often let go of the wrong button -_^
As for the spin, just press in the direction ahead of where the enemy currently is. So, if you have the enemy at 12 o'clock, press 2 or 3 o'clock, and then just stay ahead a few hours.
You get what I mean.

Can you still cancel it? There's a special offer at play-asia starting tomorrow; you can buy the LE (which seems to be sold out everywhere else) for a mere $63.92.professor ganson wrote:Finally ordered it. The thought of being able to capture enemies was just too tempting.

Crap, I just got an email saying that Play-Asia shipped it. I would happily have waited a few days for that bargain. Thanks much for the tip. I will have to consider buying the LE just as a collector's item to keep sealed.Ceph wrote:Can you still cancel it? Re: Trigger Heart Exelica for Naomi/Dreamcast
Love this game, but I just burned a copy of the PS2 version to see whether it is worth the money. Is it just me or does it just not feel right when compared to the Dreamcast version? The graphics appear more smooth than the DC version, but it also seems a little blurry. The sound doesn't seem as good either. I'm not sure what it is, but it just sounds inferior to me. Scoring appears to be a little different. When I do the same exact things on a level 1 run I get maybe 3 million less points on the PS2.
I could be making things up in my head, but it just feels slower as well. Perhaps there is a little more slowdown. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Re: Trigger Heart Exelica for Naomi/Dreamcast
The PS2 version is based on the XBox 360 Live Arcade version that was ported by Gulti, except with a new story mode and playable Faintear character added. It runs smoothly on the 360 but it's very slowdown heavy on the PS2. The scoring is simplified and isn't comparable to the Arcade/Dreamcast version, unfortunately.ZenErik wrote:Love this game, but I just burned a copy of the PS2 version to see whether it is worth the money. Thank you for the info. Makes sense. I already have the XBLA version and also do not like that as much as the DC version. But it still plays better than the PS2 release.nZero wrote:

This is very unfortunate. I had wanted the limited edition PS2 version for a long time with the nendoroid.
Re: Trigger Heart Exelica for Naomi/Dreamcast
The Nedroid is awesome, I still have it! (even though I sold the game)
The Dreamcast is the best version in my opinion. Simply for the CAVE-esque Arrange mode!
