I played through Digital Pinball Necronomicon...on "Realms Mode".
Its cool, give it a try!!!
The sad thing is, it doesn't save any high scores!!! I figured it might combine all three tables, but NO!
All you get is a cool "staff roll" ending credits with John Petrucci playng some guitar.
I have last gladiators pinball and its the best pinball game i've played outside of the less realistic and more difficult variety of Dragons Fury. The Rats multiball on the warlock table is fun. I also like bloody arena on the gladiator table. I'ts repetative but fun to keep one of the pinballs on the right flipper and use the left flipper to keep hitting the colosseum at the right time endlessly.
Untill I played these I did not think that pinball had any depth or much control over what was happening. I was wrong.
But I have to admit I haven't spotted a copy of necronomicon yet.
Realms Mode...
Well, you start off at Arkhem Asylum. There are 5 bonus rounds, plus one final extra one for each table(3 tables with 6 bonus rounds=666). You don't have to "complete" these rounds, but your score will skyrocket if you do.
Anyway, upon the final bonus round, a lane will open up, letting the ball "escape" from that particular table...thus allowing you to view a scene from our friend seeking knowledge as well as the "book".
There are three tables as you know. Even though you can play em seperate, I prefer to play the game in Realms Mode, because it allows more of a sense of "progress".
One has to be pretty good to get there (DreamLands), and typical with pinball, a good amount of luck won't hurt one bit.
It also makes more sense, because the final bonus round in Dreamlands is called "Necronomicon", which means the guy in the story has found what he was searching for...
The Book of Names...
Ohhh, Spooky Badass Shit!
Some Trivia:
The scenes in the game are from a library in Boston. (not sure which one)
Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the Realms mode because of the whole no score thing. But at least it's pretty easy to activate all the modes in those games, as opposed to a real pinball table. I think the only real table I've ever gotten the wizard mode on was Attack From Mars.
This game sure does get a lot of love. I'm not a fan of pinball video games, but Nec's a good one...if anything, I jut wish at least another board or two were added to it. 3 is never enough, never!
