Target Earth
Target Earth
So I got this game along time ago... What does everyone think about this game...(It's a genesis game)
Utterly hard. I've only spent about 15 minutes with this, and I just can't picture myself beating the first stage. Having the japanese version (Assault Suit Leynos), and thus not understanding the story nor the missions doesn't help. I love NCS Masaya (the developers), so I'll probably give it another couple of chances before I give up. Tips and tricks would be appreciated!
This game is actually pretty easy once you realize that your shields slowly recharge over time.
The key is patience. There's no forced scrolling in this game so there's no need for you to charge forward continuosly. The trick is to advance a little bit at a time, kill some enemies, stop/wait to recharge, then move forward again.
If you do this eventually you'll find the game is so easy that it doesn't even take any skill to beat it.
Oh another thing, make sure you do well in the mission objectives of each stage. The extra weapons you earn will make your job MUCH easier. Once you get the homing rockets the game becomes a piece of cake.

Not a shmup, so moved to off-topic.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

This is exactly why I don't enjoy the Working Designs version of Silhouette Mirage. Don't give me a game with a character who runs and shoots, but expect me to stop every 10 seconds to engage in awkwardly placed strategic elements.tehkao wrote:The key is patience. With that said, I don't like Target: Earth, either.
Isn't the final boss nearly impossible? I remember way back in the day me and my brother found a glitch in the game that gave us unlimited continues and we still couldn't beat the final boss. Maybe we just sucked. Fun game though.
I'll have to give it a whirl with tehkao's tips. Hopefully they help compensate for my old man reflexes.

Re: Target Earth
I just picked this game up yesterday and decided to search for existing topics rather than starting a new one.
So I have both this and its sequel (Assault Suits Valken)... anyone know where I can find a translation script of the latter since I have a Japanese edition?
God these are hard. I can get to level 3 in Target Earth and level 2 in Valken (you'll note those are both low-grav levels) but not farther... yet.

What you need to play is Metal Warriors, or at least watch some 2 player vids.
