Shadows of the Damned (Eng) vs. Shadows of the Damned (japn)
My google-fu is weak. I know that it was mentioned that the Japanese version would have additions over the American release- I am hoping someone here has hands on experience as to what the additions are (if any).
Also- if it hasn't been mentioned here- the game is awesome, really needs to be recognized more.

Great game, I remember reading on kotaku about the additions, I can't remember what the life of me they were though.
Was a bit of a sleeper hit apparently, so many people I talk to haven't heard of it.

I also think it's great, brilliant - but there were some minor problems that, if they were altered in the japanese version I'd import.
Namely:
Not being able to customize the control layout...
Not having optional upgrades to the weapons.
No chapter select.
Not being allowed to explore - as mentioned in a review, if the path splits and you take the left, chances are you won't be able to backtrack and see what was down the right.
Not being able to skip cut scenes... PLEASE!
...and something that would never happen - the game is so full of great ideas but it's too damned short. It's rare, and not really a complaint but there is so much good stuff in there that they only use once or twice. The game could have been three times as long without any additional "stuff". If only.

I'll head to that place here in a bit then. I've been avoiding it for that whole "spoiler in the news headline" thing that they've done once or twice now

The problem with Shadows of the Damned is that I don't think there was much (if any?) marketing. I was pretty excited for the game when they started showing it a few years ago. I trust the directors/makers, I like the art style, and I tend to go for those violent survival horror type action games when I can. Being that it's alot like Resident Evil 4- seems like it'd be a no brainer. That being said- it was literally a day in the store looking for computer parts- and boom it was on the shelf. I hadn't heard it was that close to coming out and I consider myself relatively in the know.
Shame the people that don't really follow games are probably never going to know it exists

I heard that, despite it's Z rating, this game was still heavily censored. Not sure of the specifics though.

Garcia Hotspur is a badass also.

I just ordered the U.S. version.
You can't skip the cutscenes? ugh..tell me they aren't long.
Also, this game gets some really good reviews, and a few mediocre reviews. What do you guys think? I love RE4, so is this for me?

You'll love it. Cutscenes are tiny as far as I remember.

I have the Jpn version and have played the US version also. The Jpn version has both english and japanese and voices.. the only thing censored I noticed was one scene where the girl is bleeding from her dress they changed the blood color but that was the only thing I noticed.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

I haven't noticed anything new... but I just beat it this week and haven't fiddled with the options and there is no game plus that I can tell after beating it.
