After months of constantly switching from one shmup to the next and getting way too carried away with botched attempts at pro scoring techniques, I finally know what it feels like! Feels great.
Espgaluda will forever hold a special place in my heart. *tear
Well done. Now, the 10 1-CCs mark is not very far. Be on your guard

I'm definitely gonna move on for now and come back occasionally. My strongest prospects are Espgaluda II, Raiden Fighters Aces, and Radiant Silvergun. I guess I'll find out soon enough what sticks.

Play Raiden Fighters 2!! A MANS GAME.
I'm aiming to make that my next 1cc in the near future

I used to be like that trying to get 10 or 20 1ccs and then moving on to the next game but I just realized after a while that even though I was pumping up my meaningless 1cc list I wasn't feeling anything but frustration in doing so and it just felt like cheating to ignore intricate scoring systems as it often makes the game a lot easier than it's supposed to be. Personally most of my satisfaction comes from learning scoring tricks and doing them in a real run. For me the best thing is a REAL 1cc where you beat the game while scoring the best you can.

Forget 2, JET's the REAL man's game.
Kidding, any of the three are tough as nails in their own right depending on how you approach it. I personally find I'm best at JET but then the RF games are basically a series of walls of which I've knocked down most of the ones in JET but next-to-none of the ones on the others.
Highly recommended for your next 1CC if possible, especially since you're fortunate to have the port.

A 1cc is a 1cc no matter what your score is, but I agree with the sentiment. But there are so many shmups to play, and only a precious few that I've been compelled to really stick with. Once I latch onto something, I tend to hold on for years, though.

I dunno, I have way more 1CCs than I have impressive scores, but I tend to loose interest in playing a game for score once the 1CC has been achieved, even with games that have really amazing scoring systems like Espgaluda and Giga Wing.
Actually, Garegga, Ketsui and Guwange were the only games that made me forget about the clear and focus only on scoring.

I would have said the same thing just a month ago, Jet was the only one I'd really put actual time into for a while and 2 was certainly my least played. After actually focusing on 2 a bit I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I do have to say that using a Slave ship makes all of the games a lot more enjoyable.
But yeah, like you said, all 3 RF games are awesome. It took me a while to really start liking them, as they just weren't what I was looking for in a shooter at all when I was newer to the genre, but I really appreciate them for what they are now.

Oh yeah, we playin dat Gunbird?
Fairy is soooo slowwww though. Before I tried any of the special ships I always used Judge Spear, so it's a bit of a shock :p
I need to snag the saturn version of Gunbird, I've been playing a bit on mame and the input lag is making it practically unplayable (and this is coming from someone who plays the shit out of Batrider on mame x.x)

Huh, I never noticed the fairy being too slow. Then again, I put all my time into RF2. Its obviously no judge spear though. Have you tried Dark Sword?
Yeah, I have the saturn version coming in this week, so I'll set it aside until yours comes in. Maybe I'll try to catch up to you in Garegga while I wait ( I can get to stage 5 fairly well)

If you're hitting stage 5 you're probably very close if not already caught up to me. I started having a little trouble with Black Heart again since I haven't played in a bit

I think Phase 2 on its own is harder than the entirety of RF2. Especially if you're not just bomb spamming the XTB-1.

You're not wrong about that stage, if I don't get slammed for making mistakes on the way to Phase 1 I usually get slammed on Phase 2 real hard. The furthest I've made it is the boss and then I get screwed over, so I doubt I'll 1CC the game with even bombspamming the XTB-1 under my belt.
As for the Fairy, yeah it's slow (at least in JET anyway) but not exactly Raiden MK-II slow. You do really need speed for scoring in the games though I reckon. Didn't like the Dark Sword much either, its basically the Blue Javelin but three times as fast and I find it's missiles take a bit for me to get used to it.

Couldn't agree more, man9child. I'll always be playing for score within my skill range which obviously isn't very high... and when I 1-ALL a game you bet I'm gonna start looking into others. There are so many great shmups out there and I'd like to sink my teeth into all of them. But yeah I'm sure I'll keep coming back to the ones I really love.
Holy shit I just credit fed galuda for the first time, the last boss is fucking retarded as hell. Is there some trick this or is it just always an awful, retarded experience? That has to be the most obnoxious pattern possible for a game with a hitbox as hard to figure out as any of the ESP entries.

I think it's one of the best last bosses! Sure it's a bit on the evil side, but that's what final patterns are for - driving you nuts
When you're about to get hit use shield and make sure you miss with the laser. As for hitbox, just watch the tutorial at the beginning of your credit.

Yeah that thing is stupidly insane. I heard something about it being easier if you stayed on the left side, third_strike 1CCed it some time ago and posted his WolfMAME inp (and a video?) for it so watching how that's done would probably be the best idea for now.

That final pattern is the most subtly disorienting pattern I've encountered yet. It always seems doable to me and then BAM! Seemingly random miss/death out of nowhere XD I haven't beaten it without dying once.
